Trailer is new to us and we just pulled out of storage. 12v and shore power have not been tested by us but PO said everything worked. While clearing PO's clutter out and getting ready for a spring cleaning I found a single wire nut rolling around lower cabinets. Growing up on boats everything was either soldered and shrink sealed or a homerun. I am a bit surprised by the amount of wire nuts and will ultimately look to clean them all up.
We ordered a double LED light to replace the broken one from Scamp under the sink cabinet. Has anyone done this replacement before? Can you share your process?
We are remodeling a 1980 16 ft Scamp. As expected, there have been interesting modifications over the decades. Here's some electrical oddities
Pics 1 and 2. The black and yellow ports above the cabinetry are connected to the 12 circuitry, which runs thru the cabinets and services 2 lights and the stove fan and light. I visited our local electrical store who have all the answers and they were stumped as to what these ports were for. They might be original. Any ideas what they are used for?
Ever since we bought our 2016 13' front bunk the overhead cabinet doors would stay open. Handy as we searched for stuff in the cabinets. Then about 3 weeks ago, the cabinet doors would no longer stay open. So I ordered new hinges. The new ones could not keep the doors open either. So I called Scamp. They were puzzled with the call and called me back with "none of their cabinet hinges would keep overhead cabinet doors open. They have used the same hinge since the beginning." They even went to check the new Scamp in the lot with same answer.
We are new Scamp owners to a 2004 13. From what we where told, it has sat idle much of its life outside, uncovered. The inside fiberglass cabinets and benches have turned a tan color. When I removed the screen door I could tell to what extent. Under the door frame it was bright white. I have seen posts of people painting the cabinets, but would like to bring the gel coat back to white if positive. Less chance of chipping and scratching that way. Has anyone had success in doing this? How did you accomplish this? I have tried buffing with a aggressive compound and pad with no success yet.
I have a small leak on one of the;side windows on my '84 ; they are the slider type panels ,and I keep the weep holes clear. ,so I know that is not the source of the leak.
When I called Scamp to inquire about the price of a new window;the tech said I should try pulling it out first to put new butyl tape around the window and reinstall .the unit to make sure.I needed to replace the window.
I noticed my flame wasn't very blue and the fridge/freezer temp weren't staying low, so I went to clean the thermocouple. Now I have a nice blue flame but it quickly cycling between lit and not, multiple times in 20 seconds or so and won't stay lit for more than 3-5 seconds at a time. Any ideas?
I continue to have several issues regarding my Fresh water system (Not the city water, but the onboard fresh water system)
1) There is an inline water filter between my fresh water tank and the 12v pump. This is a source of leaks. I have changed the clear plastic bown and black O ring but i still get a leak. Does any one else have this issue? any solutions that anybody can give me. I have placed a small plastic cup under the filter that will catch the water, but it is a constant agrivation to continuously dump this.
