I just brought home my first Scamp and saved a few $$ by getting a reasonably nice 1984 13'. There was a pretty solid "80s" musty smell in the camper so I decided to tear out the ugly carpet, figuring it was the issue. Well it was stinky but then I saw the water damage! It seems water leaked through the table connections to the wall and down under the carpet.
Hello folks, the leak is literally coming out of the bottom of the scamp near the black water tank below the shower, right out of the wooden base. The black water tank has nothing in it. How in the heck can I find a water leak in all that buried water line? I dont see any way to get at it to find a leak much less repair it. So frustrating. Im worried I will end up with rotting. I will not hook up city water again until I can find and fix the leak, which Im guessing will be a nightmare.
We are looking at the possibility of driving up to Seattle to visit family. Been told we can plug into household current and fill our fresh water tanks once we arrive. My question is where do you dump your black and gray water tanks before heading home? We've read that you should not drive any distance with full tanks but where do you dump? What kind of facilities are available on the road?
Took my 2009 13 in for new tires and to have the bearings cleaned, inspected and greased. To make a long story short, they dameged the grease caps/dust covers and are having problems finding replacements. The 1.986" marine style are slightly too large and can't be driven in. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm getting the Scamp ready for the summer season and have flushed out the antifreeze from the water system. I know all about the process of sanitizing the system prior to taking a trip, but our first trip will not be until July. I'm thinking a full water system with a small amount of added bleach (like a couple of teaspoons) would be better than an empty, but invariably moist, system. I would then drain that water and sanitize as usual before leaving in July.
I was just sent this link for caps, as I was told Scamp no longer sells replacements to owners. The Web site advertises all kinds of colors, shapes and sizes. http://www.pro-dec.com
One of my 12 volt lights above the side dinette isn't working. The bulb works in the other fixture so the problem must be further up. What tools are necessary to remove the fixture to see what might be going on? Everything is plastic, and I don't want to break anything.
Just an FYI for anyone replacing the Flipper Vent:
The standard Ventline vent provided by Scamp has flanges that are supposed to insert into the range hood opening in the trailer. Unfortunately the Scamp range hood opening is far smaller than the Ventline flanges, so the flanges have to be somehow completely trimmed off so the new vent will rest flush on the trailer surface - not an easy task.
There is a leak somewhere in the line between my city water tank and the hand-pump faucet. Water has therefore dripped (very slowly) over an extended period of time onto the Subfloor, and I'm wondering if any of y'all have any advice on replacing just a small section of the subfloor from underneath without having to replace the whole thing. The damaged area is localized to a ~1' x ~1' section of subfloor right by the passenger side rear bumper of the Scamp. Any and all advice is appreciated!
