Hey all, today, while pulling the carpet from my 1999 Scamp 13, I found a couple of small areas of beginning floor rot. The spots are at both corners of the door. I have never found the door to leak, but I assume it did at some point for a previous owner (I'm the third). I replaced what I thought were the original door seals earlier this fall - actually had Scampdo it at the factory. They commented then that the door alignment was still excellent.
Hi, newbie Scamp owner here (13' 1981). "Shrimp Scampi" is looking pretty dirty. Anything special for basic washing and maybe shining of exterior? Any tips would be appreciated.
I am refurbishing a 1992 16' Scamp and discovered a puddle of water on the table this morning after a rain. Curtain and upper left ratfur were a little dampish. I suspect a window leak because among other projects on the trailer I have been removing pounds of silicon sealer from everywhere on the outside of the trailer. Something prompted the prev owner to break out the caulk and start going to town. I suspect the rear window might have been the culprit.
In attempting to re-finish the cabinet doors, I decided to replace the hinges as well to get something that will match the new cabinet door pulls.
I have gotten all of the cabinet doors off, except for two screws, one in each of two hinges. I just removed the door from these two hinges, but I cannot get the last screw on each of the hinges out of the cabinet. It's as if they have been epoxied or fiber glassed in. The hinge will turn on this screw, but the screw will not budge.
Last weekend I left the porch light on for a couple of hours while I was up visiting at my friends' house, so I could find my way back in the dark, and the bulb burned out. I swapped in a new bulb - same thing the next night, it burned out within 90 minutes. Is there a problem with the wiring/current, or are they simply not designed to be left on for more than an hour?
I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. Any help would be appreciated!
On first day of a fall camping trip our Scamp 19 furnace failed to ignite. We eventually found the cause was a malfunctioning propane regulator which didn't deliver enough pressure to allow the furnace to fire up (which was a documented possible cause in the Suburban furnace manual, but not an intuitive cause). A new regulator has fixed the problem.
As you know, the standard doors are sawdust and glue with a laminated surface; and the screws holding the hinges to the doors are necessarily extremely short. Like 1/4" of threads, maybe 5/16". So somebody (all right, it was the Dog) was hurrying me up in the dark the other day and I accidentally leaned on the top of the door that's under the front settee on my 13' Standard, and the top hinge screws all pulled out of the door.
I am winterizing my 13' Scamp for the first time. I poured in the RV antifreeze. My question is do I need to keep antifreeze in the line from the sink to the drain on the outside of the trailer for the winter? I poured one gallon into the water tank. Is that a normal amount to use? I don't have a shower or toilet or hot water tank. Sharon
We are camped in Ks and the bath door has decided to start squeaking big time. What is the best thing to go buy to put on this hinge? Its driving me nuts:-)
Hello again. When my pump is on, even with no water running, it regularly makes the "brrrrrmp" pump sound. Just for a second. Water pressure is fine, there's no leak, I'm mainly worried about the impact on the battery. Another, possibly related, thing I notice is that, at night, when the pump runs, it dims the lights noticeably. Is this normal? Could I have a bad pump? The trailer is a '99, but I just bought it recently, so I don't know the history.
