One of my 12 volt lights above the side dinette isn't working. The bulb works in the other fixture so the problem must be further up. What tools are necessary to remove the fixture to see what might be going on? Everything is plastic, and I don't want to break anything.

12 volt light repair
John,
You'll need the go to Multimeter to test if you're getting current to the socket. If not, you trace it back to the problem. The light fixture are easy and fairly inexpensive to replace if tests bad.

Yes, I did that step. I'm getting current in the socket at one end of the table but not at the one that doesn't work. I thought I could unscrew the fixture and see if the wiring wasn't connecting with the fixture, but it looks like the fixture isn't held in place by screws? Are those 4 rivets holding the fixture in place? My experience with rivets is nonexistent to date.
John,
Yes, Scamp rivets them in at the four corners. You have to drill out the rivet head to get the fixture off. Standard equipment for Scamp Owners is a good rivet gun and an assortment of the various size of rivets. I have the Stanley one myself and like it as it is a heavier duty.
If you know where the power lines come down you might check them for power below before you remove the light. You might want to upgrade those fixtures to a T94 push LED fixture if it turns out that the fixture is bad.

I got around to this over the last few days. Drilled out the four rivets. Pulled away a divider thing at the end of the cabinet that revealed the wires. It turned out to be a bad switch. Blasted a shop vac at it while moving the switch back and forth. Works now. Reassembled with bolts and nuts through the lights. Also replaced all of the interior light bulbs with LED's that I found on Amazon. Mine were the older wedge type rather than the push type.
