Took my 2009 13 in for new tires and to have the bearings cleaned, inspected and greased. To make a long story short, they dameged the grease caps/dust covers and are having problems finding replacements. The 1.986" marine style are slightly too large and can't be driven in. Any help would be appreciated.

The new Scamps come with a "Bearing Buddy" type cap. You might look into buying and installing them. What kind of a tire store is it that can't get the dust caps off without damaging them???
A neighbor with extensive auto and RV maintenance/repair experience has offered to help educate me about inspecting, cleaning and repacking my 2008 16-foot Scamp's wheel bearings (Scamp purchased 2.5 years ago with no maintenance records). We put on new tires right after we bought it, but I am sure they didn't do anything about the bearings. I have a few questions before we start the work - the black rubber dust cover (small, flat and circular) over the Zerk fitting is disintegrating, where can I get a replacement? Also, an Internet source of information recommends replacing the grease seals after cleaning, inspecting/repacking. My neighbor thinks this is not necessary and that the grease seal can be reused as long as it isn't damaged. Would you recommend a new seal, and if so where to buy? I want to make sure we have the necessary parts before starting the project. If new parts are recommended, can the rubber dust cover and grease seal be purchased in any auto or RV shop? Are manufacturer and part numbers available? Thanks very much for any information you can provide.

You can get the rubber covers at any RV supplier. If you want to buy them on the interscreen I'm sure etrailer.com will have them. If you don't see them there call their 800 number for help.
The bearing seals can be bought there as well, and they are cheap. I would just get them because it is easy to destroy the ones you are taking out. As a mater of fact I destroy them on purpose to save the time of trying to save them. You will notice that the bearings are inexpensive too, you can get them and if you don't need them now you will have them for another time.
You say your neighbor has experience, he will know where to get this stuff. While your in there have him look at the brakes.
Enjoy
