I'm an aspiring Scamp owner (first time) and have looked at several. One that I looked at (a 19 fifth wheel) had caulk on top of the aluminum moulding that goes around the beltline of the body of the camper. Also the door weatherstripping had been replaced and the wood piece that is on the right side of the door had been replaced. Water was sitting on top of the aluminum - could sweep it away with a finger. Is this an indication of some prior problem? Owners profess ignorance.
Some of the ratfur on the cieling of my 92 Scamp has come loose (with the insulation).Does anyone know how to reattach it without stripping it all off?
How do you clean the black substance (mildew?) on the exterior of a Scamp that is stored outside in the elements year round? I've tried soap and water, which works okay, but not all the mildew comes off. Also, the Scamp has picked up splatters of freshly painted yellow road stripping (now dried) on the front, which is stubborn to remove. An environmentally friendly cleaning product would be preferred, but it it takes chemicals, I will use them sparingly to clean the exterior. Suggestions would be appreciated.
I have a new to me 1978 Scamp that my parents bought used 20 years ago. It has always had a musty smell. My parents replaced the carpet thinking that would help. It didn't. I cannot sleep in my Scamp until I get this fixed. I believe I have read every post about this and I still have a questions. I plan to use Zinsner mildew paint to seal in the smell. Here is my question. Do I need to take out all of the builtins before I start painting? I don't want to add to all the work that needs to be done, but I don't want to skimp and then still have the smell. Can someone help me?
2011 Scamp13. When on the road, we turn the reefer to 12v thinking that the truck 12v charging system will keep the Scamp battery charged also. Is this correct?
We returned from our first trip in the 2006 16 foot deluxe we bought used without any issues. A week later, when I checked the water pump in preparation for our next trip, it made a surging sound and water pressure at the faucet seemed weak. Upon closer inspection I discovered the converter also makes a soft surging sound at a rate of about once every two seconds. When a radio is plugged into a receptacle, the surging power is really obvious. This happens when the unit is plugged into the house AC. Nothing operates when disconnected from AC.
