When I get new wheels and tires on my 19' project I fully intend to add them. On my way to pick up my new-to-me 5er, my truck had a R/R blow-out. It demolished the passenger side bed sheet metal and the R/H exhaust, axle back. It marred the paint down to bare metal on both doors and broke out the heated power mirror glass. I shudder to think what the shed tread would have done to the Scamp fiberglass!
Kudos to AAA for quickly finding us on an isolated stretch of I-10 E and cheerfully towing us over 100 miles back to Tallahassee! Special Thanks to Evan at the NE Talla Discount Tire for VERY patiently working with me to get a tire and wheel set-up that suited my old-school taste (can't stand the trendy giant wheels with low-profile tires on a big truck!!). Will be getting appropriately-sized matching 5-bolt rims and tires for Scamp (with TPMS) when we do the axle and lift.
Eastern Marine has a good selection of aluminum trailer wheels. About every two or three months they go on sale for 10% off. Looks like they have the style close to your truck rims. Sign up for their e-mail sale notification to find out when they are on sale.
What a great online source they look to be! I'll definitely keep them in mind for the wheels, as well as the many other things we will no doubt find we need as we renovate. Everything appears to be original on our '84 (except tires) and it is making us nervous: all the 30-year-old appliances and systems with half-a$$ jerry-rigged repairs we are finding! I will be posting many questions/requests for advice as we go along.
