Winterizing 13' Scamp with toilet and shower.

Forums:

Living in NW Montana, it is time to winterize the camper.  I followed the owners manual instructions very carefully.  It said to run the antifreeze through the cold water line.  It said nothing about running it through the hot water faucet.  I thought that was odd, So I went to the local RV service department.  The gentleman explained to me that there is a handle to turn on the hot water tank.  This is a bypass handle that needs to be turned so the antifreeze does not go into the hot water tank.

Window leak

Forums:

My '84 has original 18" x 24" slider windows, and recently, after some heavy (8 " in 6 hours !} rain, they started leaking from the center of the track, into the interior of the camper. It seemed as if the track filled with water and it had no place to drain to,except to the interior .

Since then, I cleaned out the tracks, blew air into the weep holes, and sealed along the glass/ rubber gasket contact points. She is sitting in the garage now,so I don't know if that solved the problem or not.

What all does a converter do?

Forums:

Folks,

Our 1988 19" Scamp has a dead converter, it is a Progressive 30A converter / charger.   I know next to nothing about converters, aside from charging the battery, what does it do.  Are the other 12 volt leads closer to 12 volt output since they are not charging the battery?

If I install just a battery charger, would the higher output voltage of the charger while in use damage electronic devices plugged the 12 volt system?

Converter

Forums:

This is a new thread that is a spin off of the thread about battery replacement. Turns out my new battery went dead flat within 48 hours of installation while it was supposedly getting charged by the shore power the trailer was hooked up to. Took the trailer by the shop where I got the battery and the fellow there checked all the cells while he had it hooked to a 60amp charger. He could see the cells bubbling so he knew they were charging.

window malfunction

Forums:

Hello everyone! New to SOI and have a problem with the window above the stove on our 2015 13 Scamp. During a recent Scamping trip the window was very difficult to close and left arm of the closer bent. Upon close examination we noticed the little wheel that slides back and forth during operation was broken. Any suggestions on repair or relacement?

Lost my battery power

Forums:

I have no battery power in my Scamp.  Plugged in to shore power everything works.  As soon as I unplug nothing works.  I took out the battery and charged it so it reads 12.8 volts.  Still nothing works.  I replaced the fuse on the battery cables and checked the fuse under the front bunk.  I did have a new inverter installed along with a new air conditioner this spring at Backus.  I know enough about wiring to make me dangerous.  Any suggestions of where I can look next would be greatly appreciated!

Replacing city water connection

Forums:

Over the weekend I lost a bunch of water and it took me a bit to figure it out as I was looking inside and underneath for the problem. Turns out it was the city water connection. The outside plug had deteriorated and cracked from the UV exposure and the inside back flow ball didn't seat properly so it leaked around the ball and through some cracks on the plug. Then when I tested it at home the plug blew right out and water gushed out the connection. Hence the need to replace it, Just looking for a bit of advice if anyone has changed one out before.

Thanks,

New Power Converter

Forums:

We got our Scamp back from the RV Dealer, and they installed a WFCO Model WF-8735P Ultra III Power Converter. This is 3 stage power Converter with a cooling fan, circuit breakers, and fused protection. This power converter is a huge improvement to our Scamp, and shall go a long way to protect our Scamps electrical needs.
