Shower Trap Cleaning

Forums:

My owners manual mentioned absolutely nothing about the shower trap clean out. For those of you, like me, who have a shower, it requires a trap clean out. Follow the drain lines out of the pump, and a small cap in line with the hoses is the trap clean out. It may take a large pair of channel locks, however, grasp lightly as the cap is plastic. Once removed, a tubular screen may be taken out and rinsed off. Mine took fingers to reach up and grasp gunk out of, as this has not been done by the previous owner.

Purchasing new water pump?

Forums:

Just purchased new 15 fresh water tank and fittings, now need to find waterpump.  Looks like a few options seems like most common is superflo 4008, with strainer? Greg A showed pic of his set up mounting pump next to tank.  I have an ~11' run for easier access to pump, Can I set up pump a few feet from tank and then split difference with hoses  say 5' then 6' from pump to faucet?  How far can pump push water?   Like Greg A switching to baided hose, will do that as well.  Will need to drill hole in redone floor for drain plug?

Vent Replacement

Forums:

I am installing a new  15 x22 " vent into  my Scamp  and am unsure if screws or rivets should be used to attach the flange  to the roof  ?

I know about using butyl tape underneath ;but should the rivet {or screw} heads be caulked /sealed over on top ?

Thanks for your help and suggestions

Shower drain replacement

Forums:

I'm replacing the shower drain on our 2000 16' Scamp.  The replacement part(s) from Scamp includes a gasket.  Do I put that gasket on the top side, so that it's under the rim of the part inside the shower base?  Or, do I put it under the trailer where the plastic drain (female end) attaches to the male end coming from the shower base?  I did the latter and used plumber's putty inside the rim connecting to the shower base, but it leaked.

Microwave oven in Scamp

Forums:

Our built-in microwave went out on our last camping trip.  It worked the first night, but at breakfast the next morning.....nothing.  I haven't pulled it out yet, but have checked the AC circuit and everything else is working OK and all fuses are good.  So, I go to Amazon to look for a replacement microwave, thinking I'll pick up one for less than $50.  But, to my surprise, RV microwaves are rather pricey!!!

Scamp Specific Tools ??

Forums:

How I will survive I do not know.  My pop-up sold real fast and now I can’t focus on anything else, can’t sleep.   I only live for the day a few months from now, when I can get my Scamp ;)

Since I cannot seem to do anything else right now other than make plans, I am going through my RV toolbox, trying to lighten it up by removing un-needed stuff.
