Battery replacement and what to get is a decision based on type of camping, amp hours needed, warranty, and budget. I.E. If you primarily boondock you'll need more battery than if you mostly have utilities. Normally on a Scamp 16 you'll want a marine deep cycle and usually will get a group 24 or a 27 when possible. I personally, just get my Scamp batteries at Walmart because there is always one in range of where we're camping if I need a warranty replacement while camping. We use a portable solar setup and while there are many options, many more robust, the Wally batteries have always been fine for our camping needs.
Greg, thanks for the comment. I'm looking at possibly a Trojan golf cart battery. I like the reviews and the one I'm looking at would certainly do the job. I doubt we'll ever hook up at an RV park so I'm looking at something that I can get 3 or 4 days out of without worrying.
Trojans are real good batteries. I believe the golf cart are normally 6V but they have a good line of deep cycle AGM or GEL 12V products. A very good choice especially to add solar at some point.
They have a line of 12v water flood batteries also. I'm getting it from a guy in Grand Junction who sells to all the golf courses in town and does some RV business on the side. He's got years of experience with these things and should be able to dial me in on the right one and how to take care of it properly.
Excellent, sounds like a good source. Post which battery he puts you in when you get it. We're getting ready to launch our solar section in the resources and one of the main categories is battery selection, so it will be good to have some feedback on the Trojan.
I've attached an info page on the Trojan battery that I purchased. I'm hopeful given the amount we camp that it should last 5 or so years, if I take care of it the way I should.I hope you can see the page clearly.
I priced group 27 batteries earner this spring and found them quite pricey! Lucky for me Manards had them on sale for $84.95! Great price for a group 27 battery that powers my LED bulbs for 3-4 days!

Hi Gene,
Thanks for posting up the info. I found a PDF spec sheet on the battery that I'll attach here as well.
