I had a truck camper for many years and blew the water out of the piping using a compressor at ~40psi hooked to the city water hookup. Sequentially open all the faucets multiple times until just air came out. Drained the water heater. Drained the fresh tank. NEVER had any problems and was nice not to have to use the pink stuff. It was stored outside in Colorado.
I have no doubt I can figure this out, but if anyone has done it and has any handy tips, I'm all ears.
My roof vent lid has started to crack at the corners, so I ordered a new one. Typical of Scamp, there are no instructions with it. The bar that includes the track for the raising lever seems a bit long. Is that typical? Should I shorten it by 1/16 - 1/8", or does it just need to be "persuaded"? Any experience on this?
New 2013 Scamp owner here. Trying to get everything working. I have not been able to get the heater to stay lit. Comes on 3 times, goes off three times. I noticed a mud wasp next was blocking the bottom vent on the back of the trailer. I cleaned it out best I could but I am sure much of it just fell out of site. I put a vacuum tube in and got some out but there is probably a lot left. After that cleaning the heater worked!
I see videos and posts about winterizing a Scamp. They focus on winterizing when you have a hot water heater and a water pump. I will have neither. I will have simply a hand pump faucet and a city water connection with faucet. Do I need to do anything beyond draining the fresh water and gray tanks?
Well, the scariest thing happened that could happen- the camper fell off the hitch. I rent my camper on Outdoorsy and THANK GOD everyone was ok. The ball thread failed and lesson learned.. inspect it every single trip. The hitch punctured a hole through the front in the middle of the lower section of couch. I am going to do the repair myself. I purchase the West System Fiberglass repair boat kit, is there anything else I will need? Any tips from anyone who has done a patch? It is about 3 in x 3 in.
The manual water pump on our 2020 Scamp quit working after a couple of weeks. My wife was pumping some water from the full tank to the sink and it suddenly quit pumping.
She said it felt like it just lost all pressure.
Are there a lot of problems with these? Is the best thing to do remove the pump and test it with a proper sized line in a bucket of water?
We started noticing a slight leakage at the left front corner of the black water tank. I investigated and found that the mounting screw at that corner was gone. Assuming it had just vibrated out and been accidentally discarded, I acquired a replacement screw. When I went to install it, I discovered that the old screw had broken off. So I need to remove the lower end of the old screw.
I'm wiring up my Outback from the flat four to 7-round plug. I'm using the etrailer kit. I've run the wire from the battery. However before I actually connect things I compared the plug charts from Scamp and etrailer and they seem different. I would have assumed both were using a standard configuration. I'm confused. Help would be appreciated! Thanks
