Replace toilet mounting bolt

It may be that no one has ever done this....

We started noticing a slight leakage at the left front corner of the black water tank.  I investigated and found that the mounting screw at that corner was gone.  Assuming it had just vibrated out and been accidentally discarded, I acquired a replacement screw.  When I went to install it, I discovered that the old screw had broken off.   So I need to remove the lower end of the old screw.

I can't see the end of it from below, so I guess it's screwed into the floor pan. (?)  It looks like I'll have to dismount the whole toilet and tank to get at it.  That mostly looks doable, just annoying, but for the vent pipe.  That appears to be solid glued in.  Am I right?  Can that be removed or loosened short of cutting it?  Any other advice on this repair?

Thanks,

Randy

Toilet bolt

The toilet vent is usually just siliconed to the shell. Working alone I have installed a tiny screw to hold things in place while I silicone the pipe back in place. Just remove the little metal outside vent and you can see what is going on. The water coming from under the tank is just old shower water. ( Unless you have a cracked tank. unlikely) Scamp sometimes does not install the back corner screw and the toilet lives in place with only 3 screws. You might want to just clean things up and seal things up in the screw area with some 5200. If you decide to pull the toilet you will have to cut and replace the toilet outlet plumbing and replace the wax ring under the toilet. It will be really dirty/ nasty under the tank except for the wax ring, it is just shower water and old cleaner.

Well, that's good to know.

Well, that's good to know.  Looking at it, I thought the toilet base/tank was an open-bottomed thing that seals onto the bottom pan.  I'm glad I waited before starting in on this.
