Winterize Scamp

I see videos and posts about winterizing a Scamp.  They focus on winterizing when you have a hot water heater and a water pump. I will have neither. I will have simply a hand pump faucet and a city water connection with faucet.  Do I need to do anything beyond draining the fresh water and gray tanks?

Winterizing

Yes you need to do a couple more things. There is a check valve in the city water connection that keeps the camper water from flowing back toward the city water. Take the little screen out of the city water connection. That will allow you to get at the check valve.  With the inside faucet open push in on the check valve. The water trapped in the city water system should drain out.

You also have to protect the camper water system from freezing. That would include the hoses, hand pump and the waist water trap in the sink.To do that I drain the fresh water tank and put two gallons of RV antifreeze (pink stuff!) into that tank. Then I pump the hand pump until the pink stuff comes out of the faucet. I continue pumping until I am sure that the pink stuff has filled the sink trap and displaced any water in the trap.

I have been advised to use

I have been advised to use jacks to take most the weight off the wheels (prolongs the life of the torsion suspension) and to bleed off half the air pressure in the tires.  My 16' had a sagging suspension when I got it, and the only fix is to replace the axle - $800 four years ago.
