I was cleaning our scamp after our final fall camping trip and found 2 issues. Apologies if I should put these in two different posts, I can do that. Two photos below.
1. I found 3 small dings in the gel coat, probably from rocks kicked up in travel. Bummer. They go right through the gel coat. How do I address this? Ugly!
Cleaning up for the winter I was in the bath and noticed the toilet (black water) waste tank is only held down to the floor with three screws. One in front, two on the left hand side but the far back side slot had none. Does anyone know if that was an installation oversight or if Scamp just skips that one because of the curve of the wall? Wondering what others see on their trailers.
The microwave receptacle in the cabinet over the refrigerator does not have power to it any more. This happened after a complete short occurred when washing the camper recently. The Scamp wiring diagram is not very clear as to how that wire runs from the 120 breaker box to the cabinet. The diagram appears to show the run as part of the 120 light over the counter/cook-top. Any one know for certain if that is what they did or is it a straight run from the breaker box to the receptacle?
We are looking for recommendations on covers for our 2016 16 Ft. Deluxe with roof air conditioner and fan. Does one just use the factory specs for determining size? It seems some recommendations advise ignoring the fact the air conditioner is there. Also - are tire covers recommended?
What size and brand have others found to do the job?
The Atwood HW heater on my 2014 13'er started to act up, wouldn’t stay lit, or would go out after a few minutes, AND when lit for those few minutes, there was a small jet of flame coming out of the small hole (air vent?) in the connector.
“Not Good,” as the guy at the Campers Inn said.
Searching the web found no apparent relevant advice, altho there were some clues:
-that the pilot light should be high enough to touch the thermocouple;
-that enlarging the vent with a pin could damage the system.
Hmmm.
As part of winterizing, we need to remove the water heater drain plug. In the 2017 Scamp Owners Manual it states that this white plug at lower left of external access requires a 1 1/16 socket. However, on the DVD we got with the trailer, it states that a 5/8" socket is needed. Both are wrong. The 1 1/16 is far too big, the 5/8 is too small. The plug itself is plastic hexagon and is behind the metal piece that has the on dial. Its location requires an extender for a socket wrench.
My husband is 3 hours from home with our 16' Scamp, and the bathroom door somehow got locked with nobody inside! Any tips for unlocking the door from the outside without destroying the door?
Has anyone had any experience locating a good RV repair shop in Illinois for a Scamp?
Ours has developed a leak on the discharge side of the Sealand Toilet tank. I found black water leaking down the sides of the black 3-inch discharge pipe up high on the underside of the floor. I know I could head back to the factory but wondered if anyone has found a shop they like to use.
I just purchased a 1997 16' "project". Aside from a few plumbing leaks yet to fix, the LP function of my fridge is the last item to address before our first camping trip. I've verified the propane tank has gas and bled the system at the stove. My hot water heater works great after replacing the gas control valve and pilot assembly so the LP system supply seems fine. After turning the temperature on the frige to the coldest setting and turning the gas knob on, I've got nothing, no piezo or gas. My BBQ butane lighter is the only flame at the base of the burner.
