New Door Lock

Just got my girl back from having a new door lock installed. I gotta say, so far, I love it!

Very Nice!

Did you have this done at a local RV place? Cost?

New Door Lock

Looks like the one I installed about 20 years ago on our 13 ft. Scamp. The door Jamb bracket is a different design, but the idea is al the same. I think the info I provided is in the main index.

I must say tins style of lock is much better than the original equipment lock. It's easier to lock and has a dead bolt built in and is someone is inside the trailer and has locked the door, you can unlock the door from the outside with your key.

I too would  like to know who did the installation of your lock, as it looks to be very nicely done.

Thanks for sharing.

This is on my to do list,

This is on my to do list, usually with this retrofit i see people add a spacer on the inside of the scamp to make up for th thickness of the lock. Interested if you know what model of lock this is.

Door Lock

The best brand of lock is TriMark as they use tumber locks and they work better and last longer.TriMark uses tumbler locks, not wafer locks, that's why they cost more. There are other brands that are lower in cost, but don't last as long. I found the TriMark # 060-0251 in black, they make them in white and chrome. With this part number you should be able to go to an RV store to get one in whatever color you want. And DON'T let them sell you any thing else but a TriMark lock with the dead bolt.

And you are correct, you will need to use a 1/2 inch spacer when you install the lock in the door. It's shaped like a big U only it's used on it's side like a big C.

I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have more questions.
