Putting 5th wheel on blocks for off-season

I ran across this in the online Scamp winterizing checklist: "Jack up the axle and block it up to take the weight off the suspension" (though this is not in my paper owner's manual).

I'm wondering where the blocks would go:  under the axle itself? under the frame near the axle?  Anyone have a picture of their blocking or recommendations?  Thanks.

I used 4 jack stands on the frame of my 13' (in front and behind each wheel) and raised each side just enough to allow the wheels to turn. I would imagine on a 5er a support for the tongue couldn't hurt.

Scamp says not to jack up the

Scamp says not to jack up the axle, being reasonably conservative. Some people might attempt to raise it by jacking it in the middle and bending the axle. However it is robust enough to put jack stands right near the ends of the tube, where it is mounted to the frame. The front legs hold some of the weight up, and the rear stabilizers some as well. The tires are off the ground and at 15 to 20 psi, so is the spare. Occasionally I give the tires a spin.

Jacking up Scamp

Thanks for your answers Paul and Enigma.

I also went to the horse's mouth & checked with Scamp Trailers; got this response from Micah Eveland there: "all you need to do is place your rear stabilizers down and canker the front up a bit."

So the 5'er is now bedded down for the winter and our first major winter storm of the season.  Only dreams of camping for  5 more months sad

Scamp on Jacks

I have always jacked up,our trailer putting the Jack stands right under the axle. Have not experienced any bending at all. The tires are barely off the ground, exactly what Scamp recommends. In the spring it comes off the jacks and when sitting on the tires I can see the top of the tires!
