Electric problem

Here is my problem. I bought a 2002 16ft Deluxe front dinette trailer. 2 of the 12 volt interior lights don’t work. These 2 lights are in the  front one in the bath and the other over the front table there is no 12 volt+ to these lights, the –12 volt is ok. These lights use a 2 wire cable, the color is white the other color is green with white strip. This wire is used on ever 12 volt light in the trailer. I can not find where in the trailer these wires terminate. The converter has wires that supply 12 volts to these lights but  not the green/white. My question is, where in the trailer does the lighting wires tie together. I’m a retired Electrician and this has me stumped.

Scamp Wiring

Here is a wiring Diagram for a Scamp.

(Note: I could not upload a clear enough image, therefore the link).

Maybe this will help.

By-the-way, have you checked the fuses and/or removed and replaced them to ensure good contact ( I know this is obvious, but, sometimes we forget to check the easy stuff).

Happy Scamping !!!

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

I have that wiring diagram.

I have that wiring diagram. That is just in general the way it is . My fuses are all good. When I pull the fuse to the lights, all 6 lights go out, but only 4 come on when pluged in. I just need the location where the lights are tied together on the positive  12 volt side those would be the the green/ white along with the negitive 12 volt white cable. I'm trying to contact the factory, just got the service voice mail. It,s a good thing I'm retired I got all the time in the world to get this fixed.

Wiring

Not having the trailer in front of me, it is a bit difficult to answer. I personally on my 13 Scamps haven't seen Scamp use other than the black/white wires to the lighting. I'm wondering if a previous owner ran new wiring for some reason to these two fixtures, and either didn't complete the connection or did a weak connection that has come undone. Did these two lights ever work when you looked at the trailer or can one assume they weren't working when you bought it?

On the 13's the front wiring comes down inside the liner and ties into the harness running along the base of the drivers side. The harness is visible either under the benches or kitchen cabinets the whole way down the drivers side, but I don't know if that is the case on the 16's.

Keep us posted on your progress and what you find out.

problem solved

The 2 lights that were out  had no 12 volt pos to them. But I checked and they were common to each other so I picked up a 12 volt pos from the bath transfer pump inside a cabinent behind the bath light. I tapped into that and put in a 5 amp inline fuse now both lights are working. That's not the way I wanted to fix it but it works. The way they wired this scamp is very crude. Maybe being an electrician makes me more picky

Wiring is very rudimentary

Excellent. Once you have more time with the trailer you can do a long term fix.

One of the first mods I do on my Scamp 13's is to add wiring blocks under the front and rear bunks which I then route all essential lights, etc. through so I know what is where if something goes out. I also do what you did and add inline fuses to items coming into the new blocks.

I have a feeling, that you will have a very upgraded electrical setup soon.  yes

new to me trailer

My 16 foot deluxe 2002 has been in storage for 10 years. After all that time, things just don't work like they use to.I'm just fixing one problem at a time. But I'm enjoying what I'm doing.
