Insulating your windows

What are you doing Scamp owners to insulate your single pane windows for cold weather?

Insulating your windows

We have used the kits of plastic film with two sided tape from ACE Hardware for years.

While still working, I found

While still working, I found some used packaging material which is thin, glass reinforced, and aluminum coated on one side. after I cut them, my wife sowed a number of short (about 2 inch) pieces of Velcro along the edges on the non-aluminum side. The pieces are larger than the windows by a few inches on all sides and the Velcro holds it to the rat fur. The aluminum reflects the heat back to the inside and there is an air space between it and the windows. When not in use, these things are rolled up and live in the overhead cabinets. Had I not had that packaging stuff, I would have used Reflectix.

Reflectix

I made close fitting pieces of reflectix just to cover the rear and side windows above where the bed is . just  for the coldest evenings to cut down on drafts while sleeping. Only used them once so far.

In the future I hope to find some of the thin white 3/16 closed cell foam sheets to make window covers from. It would let some sunlight in for the morning wake up call and give some degree of insulation, As  the Reflectix is so dark..
