I just finished rewiring my trailer and used this opportunity to go full LED!
List of parts i used:
- 8ft Heavy Duty 7-way cord with waterproof junction box (installed under the front bunk) - to plug into the car
- 100ft Heavy Duty 14/12/10 AWG 7-way cord (i used a jokary knife to remove the outer insulation and get individual wires, cheaper that bying separate rolls)
- LED Optronics taillights 7in with GloLight effect
- LED 3.9in clearance indicators - 2x red + 2x orange
- LED license plate lights (acting as screws)
- Trailer license plate bracket
- LED bulbs (for inside) 1156 - BA15S
- LED awning porch light 10" long (white)
- LED load equalizers Sylvania 15W (for turn signals/stop)
- Dual USB charger (to replace the cig lighter outlet)
- LED flood light for reverse (visible under the spare tire cover on the picture) - not required by law but i had reverse lights so...
- 10A 12V voltage stabilizer for my Maxxair Deluxe fan
- Progressive Dynamics PD9245 converter
- Progressive Dynamics PD5000 AC/DC fuse & breaker panel
- Bunch of WAGO 221-613 connectors
- Some 25A terminal blocks for the ground connections
- Some zip ties
- Lots of heat-shrink tubes
- Lots of soldering
- and a few wire terminals
The reason i did that is because i suddenly lost 12V power during a trip and all my fuses went out. I realized once i got home that some wires had started to melt and most of the crappy OEM splices (little plastic pieces with a metallic jaw inside) were rusted. Repairing a portion of the harness would only buy me some more time. A complete revamp was necessary.
The first challenge was to remove both benches and the table on the back to access the existing wiring.
The second challenge was to understand how Scamp people organized/built this thing. Head scratcher.
I decided to go full Heavy Duty on the wires, even if it's probably unnecessary:
I also decided to install a ground wire for the e-brakes (OEM is using the chassis as the ground).

The only thing i'm not so happy with, is the color of these license plate lights. Too blue for my taste. But i'll grow over it.

This is the LED light i used for reverse. I bolted it directly onto the steel bumper, in the center so it doesn't interfere with those jacks stored behind the bumper as well. It's a light made for boats, so it's waterproof and stainless steel. I painted the cover in black.
It's super bright and lights up the entire area. Useful when backing up in some sketchy forest camping site. lol.
