We spotted a 1972 Hunter Fiberglass Travel Trailer at the Little Manatee River Campground we recently stayed in.
This egg had been completely rebuilt including removal of the metal "belly band" and glassing of the two halves together. The outside was painted in a very nice teal with the name "The Mystery Machine" painted on the sides using seventies style "bubble" lettering. This special egg had a "pop-up" section in the middle of the roof which gave the trailer over 7 feet of headroom.
This unique trailer had a rear entry door with a front seating/bed area reminiscent of a "V berth" on a boat. The rear entry also featured an awning which extended from the trailer, creating a "porch like" living area underneath the canopy. The trailer was about 13 or 14 feet in length.
The interior was smartly laid out with a Galley Kitchen at the rear. The kitchen featured a super small Microwave Oven from Samsung (maybe 14 inches wide) that looked more like a medicine cabinet than a Microwave. The Kitchen also featured an induction cook-top.
The entire interior was painted with bright colors (yellow, teal, fuschia, bright blue etc). The colors were very inviting and the mix of colors was artfully done.
The front mounted Propane tank had been converted into a storage compartment and the entire trailer was converted to use 110 volt electricity, the only 12 volt lights were the brake and tail lights.
It was a pleasure to meet the proud Owners of this Special and Unique Fiberglass Egg, and We wish to thank them for giving my wife and I the "nickel" tour.
Yes, I agree. I would have liked to get photos but they were preparing dinner at the time and we did not want to be impolite.
I did realize later that the name "The Mystery Machine" was a reference to the van in the Scooby Doo cartoon. The paint scheme also imitated the Scooby Doo van, so that might give you a mental image of the exterior of the trailer.
I have to admit, the rear entrance was really cool and it increased the functionality of the interior.
We were coming home from church this morning and met a Scamp on Illinois Rt. 121 with in 3 miles of home, couldn't tell if it was a 13 or 16. That is just about as close as it gets.
Looked up my address and MY 16 ft. Scamp is in our driveway!

Seems as though this fellow had great fiber glass experience! Hope to see him and his trailer while we are out on our trips.
