Tool storage, to prevent rust

I'm having trouble with tools getting rusty inside the Scamp, and spreading that rust to everything else! Even to stainless steel, which is rust-resistant but not rust impervious. I made the mistake of storing some tools in the utility drawer, along with other commonly-reached-for items like a wine bottle opener, a Leatherman knife, spare keys, nail clipper - just the usual you'd find in the "junk drawer" in any kitchen. Hoo boy. What a mess.

I think the main culprit that was spreading the "disease" is an adjustable wrench. I'm "mad at it," ha ha! But gotta have it, or something like it, because you never know.

So I've taken everything out. But I definitely need to be able to store tools in the Scamp, and prevent rust. What kind of container do you use, that works? I'm assuming something truly air tight? And do you put any dessicant in it, or possibly spray your tools with, say, WD-40 and give them a wipe before storing?

Also, any advice on cleaning up the rusty items would be welcome. It bugs me that they got so bad before I noticed and I want to fix my error, if I can.
