For the second year SOI will be sponsoring the Ladderball Tournament at the Quartzsite gathering which will be run by the infamous Earl and "The Peanut." Quartzsite Gathering will be here before we know it. SOI will be attending this gathering as we have from the beginning and we hope to meet many of the West Coast members this year. The gathering almost hit 100 trailers last year and there is room for almost an unlimited number so come on out to the desert for some free camping!
The ladderball tourney should be really good again this year and hopefully Mike and Patti will be there defending their title.

Unfortunately Patti and I are going to miss the gathering this year, life gets in the way of the best laid plans. I have to confess, we train at secret Ladderball camp in the Nevada.
I knew it -- a secret training camp!
Sad to hear you won't be joining us this year. You will be missed!

As they found out, It's all a matter of luck, and it's easy to learn. Even though they will not be at Quartzsite this year, EVERYONE has a chance to play and possibly win prizes supplied by SOI. Don't be shy, come out Saturday afternoon and give it a try. The ladderball court will be set up early so you can practice ahead of time.
Last year SOI setup on the East end of the main loop at Dome Rock, Quartzsite, AZ. With almost 100 trailers now the gathering takes up three sections of the Dome Rock camping area. The main loop in the center is the original area when the gathering first assembled 8 years ago. George and Betty (Casita Forum) have been the gracious hosts for this gathering since the inception and you'll check in with them in the center of the main loop after you arrive and setup. As it grew trailers expanded to the West and the East end of the main loop. We even now have many trailers that setup on top of the ridge to the South overlooking the gathering. This was teasingly named "Snob Hill." You can pretty much setup anywhere you can get your trailer into and there are acres and acres of BLM land. You will need to go down the frontage road in the first few days and register with the BLM rangers, but there are no fees involved for camping.
Many of us are arriving early on Tues and Wed and SOI will officially setup SOI village on the East end of the main loop as indicated in the picture. We host the ladderball tourney in the center of the main loop after the soup activity on Saturday.
Hope to meet some new SOI members out in the desert next week and look forward to getting together with friends from the past gatherings.
Make sure you stop by when you pull in and let us know you've arrived.
