table extension

I have a 2022 13' with bunks in the front and a big bed in the back.  I use this camper with my wife and two children, which is why we have it configured to sleep 4.  So far, we've never used the big bed as a table.  It is always in bed configuration.  But, we are planning a colder weather trip and expect that we'll want to spend more time inside the camper than we usually do, which is typically used only for sleeping.  If the big bed is in table configuration, we can all fit comfortably sitting there, but the table itself is really only long enough for the two people sitting near the back to use the table.  The rest of the sleeping platform is a separate piece that sits across the seats when in bed configuration.  We expect to use the table both for eating and possible for playing games at night.  If the table were as long as the bed, then all four of us could be using the table at the same time.  The only caveat is that there would be a tight squeeze to get into the seats.  Has anybody done a modification to make the table longer?  It doesn't have to be as long as the bed, and ideally it wouldn't be, to allow for better access to the seating.  The options are to build a longer table and shorter extra piece to complete the bed, or to build an extension to the current table that folds out or something.  We were wondering why the table wasn't designed to be long enough for more than two people to use at a time.

Table Extension

The answer is to contact Scamp Parts and order a 42" table top (which is standard for the 16' Scamp?) with 10" radius cut corners towards the front end of the table.  The Parts store only shows a "Deluxe Rear Dinette Table" with a finish we didn't want, so we called them.  We were able to communicate that we wanted a 42" x 29 3/4" table top with the cherry finish like the rest of the cabinet drawers and doors. The table and shipping came to a little less than $300.  They first told us that it would be 1 to 2 weeks but we received notification the next day that it had been shipped and we received it two days after that.  It took about an hour to swap out the hardware but now we have a table that is 10" longer with rounded corners that make getting into the benches easier.  You will have to either shorten the current extension 10" for use as a bed or build your own (we chose the latter because my son loves wood working and I love doing projects with him).  On the extension, we are going to put metal tabs that will slide under the table top when it is down in the bed configuration to provide stability.  An added benefit is that the bed extension is now only 10" wide so it will fit on its edge along the bottom of the bench seat behind one's calves when sitting at the table.  As and aside, I now have the standard 32" table top and bed extension (in cherry) for sale if anyone needs a replacement.
