Note: I am posting this for a couple, Don and Peggy, that were stuck in Nova Scotia on a trip with this issue and are now enroute home to GA. They will be joining when they get home and I'll assign this to their account when they come online. In the meantime they felt this was good information for SOI members to have.
Since purchase of 2000 Scamp 5th wheel in 2005, have never got more than 3500 miles out of trailer tires on driver (and refrigerator) side of camper, despite keeping 50 # pressure consistently in it, and reducing wgt. by placing wgt. over front of camper. Typically, wear pattern on inside of tire looks as if someone used an axe to chop pieces out. Suspect is torsion bar. Any members have similar problems?
“Not sure about that problem. There have been axle warnings on the Yahoo Scampers forum for several years. It is still there. I had mine looked at and it was determined the holding brackets were put on backwards. Kent, at Scamp, gave me instructions on how to fix, which I did. I'm not sure if the problem described below is the same problem. I haven't found that kind of problem with my tires. - - Earl”

Most recent Update from Don & Peggy: (Guess if ur stuck somewhere waiting on an axle and replacement, Nova Scotia, would work pretty well. We wish them safe journeys home and it sounds like they may have found a resolution to their long term issue.)
