AC Sizing

First of all I am a Newbie, but when you're 68 it sounds good to be a newbie!  Also in spite of 35 years of working with computers, this is my very first post to any forum.

I have lots of experience in sizing air conditioning for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.  I have absolutely NO experience with travel trailers.  Obviously different construction, materials, and insulation values.  My experience has shown that an over-sized AC doesn't run long enough to take humidity out of the air and so you get cool, but damp air.  Most folks find this uncomfortable and it can lead to mold and mildew problems.

It appears that all sizes of Scamps TT's come with the 13500 BTU Brisk II AC.  I've seen the same size on 25 ft motorhomes.  It just doesn't make sense that "one size fits all", but I've found life can be full of magic!  So is there only one size supplied?  Are there no complaints about damp, mold or mildew?

AC Size

Ramrod, I would also like to know the answer to your question.

I have been wanting to ask, What is the smallest AC (power and size) made that can be used in a closet of a Scamp 13"

Hey, Lis.  For what it's

Hey, Lis.  For what it's worth, we've gone ahead and ordered a Scamp 16 with the 13500 BTU rooftop ac.  Maybe I can answer my original question myself this time next year, as I don't get the trailer until October.  I have noted that many folks find the rooftop unit loud, even on low speed.

AC Sizing

Never personally seen any complaints about damp mold or mildew related to the AC units used in Scamps. The noise issue is pretty well documented and not too much can be done with that except camp in climates that don't require constant AC. Some newer trailers, but not Scamp yet, use a digital thermostat that controls both the heat and AC like your house unit. The advantage is that your blower fan shuts off when the compressor shuts off after reaching desired temperature. This is a nice feature, maybe Scamp will offer that option someday.
