Installing TV and mount through fiberglass wall - 13' Scamp

I have a 13' Scamp with bathroom and shower and I would like to install a TV.  I looked at the pole mount shown in a previous post, but I don't have room for that on my camper.  In a conversation I had with Scamp, I was told I could drill through the fiberglass wall and directly install the TV mount in the wall.  The attached picture shows the area between the rear and side windows where I intend to install the TV mount.

Has anyone done this and is it advisable?  I have the TV mount, which has 2 screw holes.  The TV and mount weigh between 12 and 15 pounds.

Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Marty

Shell

I personally wouldn't want any holes drilled through the shell that weren't absolutely necessary. I know folks have reinforced and mounted them to the undersides of the overhead cabinets, or maybe in the closet wall? Would have to see some pics and I don't see any when I edit your post that you uploaded and inserted.

Thanks

Hi Greg,

Maybe I can catch up with you next time you're at the storage.  Mounting the TV with the pole won't work and I don't think I have very good options.

Thanks for responding,

Marty

LOL, I wasn't really paying attention to who it was and didn't realize it was you Marty.

I'll just take a look at it for you when we're at storage.... I was there most of the weekend on and off working on the Scamp 19.

TV install

If you use the search section near the top of the login page, you can search for previous tv install suggestions by members as well as photos. Take a look there under tv install. I think there are better install options shown there.

Link

I went to the link to the previous discussions on adding TVs to the Scamp and found the correct thread and copied that link to post here.  It is:

adding 12V 15" TV to 13' Scamp

if you can find this discussion thread through the search tool, it will provide you with many alternatives for installation.

Table of contents

Another route is to check the table of contents that are at the top of the modifications and maintenance section.

The TV posts are listed there.

TV Mount

I think you could mount the TV bracket just about anywhere, like onto the rear cabinet, as long as you take the TV off the bracket while traveling. It's the weight of the TV, which would be multiplied greatly when going over bumps that would cause problems.

Thank you.  I've decided to

Thank you.  I've decided to mount the TV under the rear cabinet.  I think your advice to remove the TV from the mount before traveling is advisable.
