Thanks for the support in my criticisum, and Cathy's support in thinking Scamp MFG. should reconsider some issues we have with their near perfect travel trailer. Just a few tweeks by Scamp Mfg. Engineers here and there would absolutely make our Scamps for new buyers about the best travel trailers ever made. But I will try not discourage those from buying directly a new one, but do recommend that when the new buyers approach Scamp for a trailer that they mention they are educated and versed into what it would take to have a near perfect camper by researching these SOI suggestions and want to be heard or maybe Consita will listen, Simple as that.
I am grateful to Scamp for having the parts overnight shipped and paid for by them from the original axel suppliers when we had our bad luck on our Alaska trip last year. This was done with no cost to me, and I appreciate Micaha arranging for this to happen. Agreed that Scamp executives and salespeople are nice people and I hate it to sound like I am not saying they are. I believe without whipping this horse any longer everyone is on the same page and perhaps this little venting by more experienced Scamp owners will be heard by them and new buyers as a negotiating tool stating that we should have some say in changes that are needed for the price they now are. I assure you there is not much loss of profit.

So good that you ordered a potty/shower. I could not imagine a trailer without. Shame they dropped the window, ours cranks out, and provides ample light. No, never had a mice problem with our factory shore power cord. Some day I may change it out , but no immediate plans right now, just to enjoy it.
Thanks, Doug. We haven't ordered yet. I just didn't get a good feeling that they were concerned I get what I want. It was kind of "here it is, take or leave it". Jim didn't mention the 54" bed, wouldn't budge on the front window, hasn't sent me pictures as promised of the fan in the bath. We are thinking aboiut holding off until they are more hungry - maybe like December. I believe the deliveries are out to August anyway and I have to work the month of September.
BTW - I am a pilot also. Fly an amphibious Searey Expermental out of my back yart (which is lake).

HI Dennis, I know they mold the 2 halves and the window must be a part of the process prior to molding. Seems now that Scamp has turned away from the crank out window we so enjoy in our 2008 Scamp. Its heavily frosted and very thick, which I do not feel a cover outside is neccessary. Your flying sounds fun but I never got a float rating. I have type ratings in 2 jets, but those days are over for me. I am truly enjoying retirement and no longer wish to fly, but I do retain a CFI license. Hope you do end up with a Scamp, as they are terriffic fun. Our big break out trip is Lanesboro MN. Smoky Mountains in mid August.
- I think it would be quite dark in the head (I have the shower and the loo [unused]) without the window. I do like the window for the cross-ventilation; and I can clip a small solar panel to it.[And yes, I know the panel may not do much, but it's the thought that counts.]
- Yes, I've thought the AC is too big. Jim told me it was the smallest they could get. But even in the Fort Worth heat of last July, I didn't have it on higher than low, and didn't need it for longer than 15 minutes or so at a time.
Doug,we think that the snap on cover over the front bath window is just to keep rocks or anything from flying up and possibly breaking the glass in the window.We just take it off and store it when we camp somewhere
