Correct

Earlene:  Greg has given you some good advice.  I will add that when dealing with warranty, if they want you to return to the factory and you don't want to, lock in your heels and tell them that is just not possible.  Scamp should be able to guide a service center in what needs to be done because I am betting, although this may be rare, that they are familiar with the needed fix but, I don't know, anymore it just seems that everyone tries to get over doing the least that they can get by with.  I worked at a factory direct RV dealer and they handled a lot of issues through dealers throughout the US unless it was something really serious that required seeing it and figuring out what the heck to do with it and they only got a couple of such issues.

My issue with the door latch

My issue with the door latch and striker plate is simply that the door is tight.  Mine has been this way it's entire 14 years.  I did change the door seal to a thinner seal but still have to do the hip check, which is fine with me.  My door has never opened while in transit.

Swingin door and now new problem

This trip is getting to be a comedy of errors for us...good thing hubby has a sensible mind instead of being like his wife and just loosing my cool temper. He has emptied the grey water tank 3 times and now its full again and the value is not opening the tank or whatever when pulled,so now water is emptying out...Anyone have any ideas. We are still 1100 miles from home, visiting out in western Ks...its hard to do to much when you arent home around your tools. He is going to call Scamp about the door,he did notice when he put the new latch on that the new one had a tougher spring, but it still must not be holding correctly.we always do make sure the door is closed and latched completely, and we know and understand why that door needs to fit so tight,so its nothing we are doing wrong thats causing that problem....the good news is that we came thru a driving down rain the other day getting here and then hail of course, this is Ks after all.....and nothing leaked and the door was not wet so we're thankful for that

Blade valve

What luck. Sounds like a bad 3" dump blade valve. Installs with 4 nuts and bolts easy replacement when empty. Take the trailer to the dump site and loosen up the valves four nuts and bolts to empty the tank into the dump trough or you may have to slowly let it drain into a bucket then dump. At least it not black water. You may try to screw in the handle shaft into the blade first but don't count on it.

Dump Valve

Replacing a dump valve is an easy fix, unless you are far from home and you don't have easy access to the parts.

That being said, this can be easily fixed by an RV repair shop anywhere along your route.

Sometimes the best DIY fix is a DIY Google search for the nearest RV repair shop.

Since you are still under warranty, Scamp should be able to direct you to an authorized repair shop, or offer to reimburse you for your costs.

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

Thanks Eddie, He called Scamp yesterday and they said to call back Monday. Things always happen on a weekend and when your not at home with all your tools. He went to a RV place also but they were closed till tomorrow He will replace it or whatever it takes, but thinks that Scamp should send the part if thats what it takes as this camper is only 5 months old,Hopefully we will find out something tomorrow

Sorry To Hear It

Earlene:  Sorry to hear of more issues.  I can imagine how frustrating it is.  I buy a lot of used things, we have never had a new vehicle by choice and I make a lot of our things, even considered building a small trailer at one point and would have to say, I think I'll look at the plans on line again.  To me, it is frustrating to read about all the issues with ALL trailers, things that seem like there shouldn't be an issue and I realize there are just times when something just had a flaw to begin with and it goes unnoticed until it fails.

Does Scamp do a good walk-thru when you pick up a unit?  I know that some do 3 and 4 hour walk thrus making sure everything works as it should and making sure the buyers know how things work.  I watched the walk-thru video for a competitor of Scamp and it was excellent.

I am sure there is nothing that you are doing wrong to cause any issues.  Guess you should have planned a long vacation in MN.  Hopefully, with this trip, everything that might go wrong will just get it over with and next time, it will be smooth RVing!

Good walk thru

I should know by now that there are and can be problems with everything a person buys, just seems like our luck sometimes is more on the its going to happen for sure to us side ha..Its just always more flusterating when a person is not home.Scamp did do a great walk thru with my hubby and our two grown sons who went with him....we had our trip all planned for him and I and of course the dog to go pick up the new Scamp, when I wrecked my  mountain bike trying to get away from a car and fractured my public bone,so I was pretty well layed up so all those plans changed and I did not go....but all 3 of them that did go said they walked em thru everything and showed how things worked, its all pretty simple (Till something doesnt work correctly} .It will all work oiut fine Im sure just need to get the bugs out, opps I probably shouldnt say that.....havent had that problem ....yet hee hee
