That 5 month wait will be well worth it and just know that Scamp is very good about sending replacements free of charge for any problem that does come up,they do that for the first year..I am just happy our door is staying closed
Earlene: So glad you got the problem with the door taken care of. I can imagine the horror of looking in the rear view mirror while going down the highway and seeing the door flopping in the wind. I noticed on a "For Sale" ad this week that someone had a 2009 Deluxe for sale and in the photo you could see a bungee attached to the door. : ( Happy Travels!
Thanks Cathy we are glad to have it fixed or think it is fixed too. That would not be a good selling point posting a picture of one for sale with the bungee cord holding the door shut, not when the fix seems to be so easy as to get one from Scamp. They must know there has been a problem with this as they have sent us two new ones now. Last time Mike in the parts dept said they had a brand new design one that should do the trick and it seems like it has.We want to get everything taken care of while we are under warrenty :-)
My Scamp is a 2008 and I recently bought it used. The folks I bought it from told me to be sure to close the door tightly and lock it before getting on the road. The first time out, sure enough, some folks stopped me to point out that the door had opened.
Since then, I am absolutely sure the door is securely closed and locked before I get on the road. I have since put on 2900 miles with no difficulty re the closure of the door.
Penny,I sure hope that door keeps behaving for you,but always always keep an eye on it when traveling or pulling into parking lots,as our was supposed to be fixed after the first replacement latch and it started again after several thousand miles,we always made sure it was latched and locked also, but Scamp factory sent us another replacement and it was working ,we have since sold the Scamp and waiting for pickup of our new Casisita and it has the same kind of door so you can bet,I will be keeping an eye out on that door while going down the roads, good luck with yours
