Update on swinging door

I just wanted to tell everyone that Scamp is sending out another door latch for our Scamp. We told them they had just sent us one in Dec and he told us that they have a new one now since then.....which means to me that they must know there is a problem with the ones they were using....so hopefully this new one will take care of that problem. We wont know till we get home :-) So will keep using the bungee cord till then{only 1000 miles home this time, once we head that way} and about the other problem, with the grey water not emptying, they are also goinng to send a new valve since this one is broke, hubby did take it apart and out this morning and there's no fixing it to get it to work, but was able to empty our tank....so at least thats a good thing. Thanks to all for the advise I love reading all the posts on this site

Wow this door issues is a MAJOR concern for this prospective customer!   When you get the second replacement latch please let me / us know if it looks like a different / better design. Maybe they need to do a recall. Has Scamp ever done a widespread recall I wonder?  Thanks for the warning about the door popping open.

Door latch issues

Hi Gordon,  I.m taking delivery on a new scamp 16 standard in two weeks, I'm troubled also by complaints that have ben posted about new Scamps. I've had a number of talks with Scamp and I still feel I'll be getting a well built trailer. My blog is listed on SOI and I hope to post great experiences on it!

Dump valve and headin west

Even tho Scamp is sending us a new dump valve hubby did go buy one and put it on to get us home, grey water isnt as important to us as the black water tank but I think I might still need to do some dishes at some point ha...So today we are headin west towards home, not in any hurry and dont even know which route we are taking this time, going to figure that out as we go along.Thats the wonderful thing about taking your bed with you

door latch

Gordon do not let our door keep you from ordering a new Scamp, not everyone has a problem,it is just our luck that we get one that keeps opening, like I said,we had a new one in 81 and never had a problem with anything on the whole unit the whole time we owned it, I am sure the new latch is here, but we just got home and they wont deliver our mail till tomorrow so will have to check that out and let you know

replacement door latch

Scamp did send the new door latch and dump valve to us,got the mail yesterday,Hubby looked at it and said it did have a much stronger spring down inside it,havent put it on yet but sure hoping this takes care of the problem. He will get to it later in the week, being gone for almost 3 weeks, there's yard work to do...which amounts to vacuming leaves out of the yard rocks ha.We cant complain that Scamp doesnt send out new parts when we have a problem with anything
