Winterizing Television

We have the Scamp installed television in our new 16 ft Deluxe.  Removing it for the winter looks like a real pain.  Any ideas on protecting it in the winter?  It can get down to -20F in Indiana.  That just does not sound good for a piece of electronics.

Winterizing Television

I'm from the world of electronics and leaving TVs out in the cold bothers me. But in my last RV I left 2 TVs in it every winter for 4 years and did not have a problem. That was in Wisconsin where a -40 happens (and I do not do wind-chill).

Winter Television

You may want to consult your TV owner's manual. Most manufacturers list a temperature operating range above 32 degrees F. You may void your warranty if you leave it in the cold and later find a problem. If you are beyond the warranty date then it is your decision. I bring mine inside the house for the Minnesota winter.

Thanks but figured it out

Thanks for the comments.  I actually looked in the back of the tv and found it could be detached with one knob.  It's good to know it would probably survive a sudden cold snap though.

TV Storage

We live in Florida and have the opposite problem of too much heat. I simply pack my TV in it's original box for transport. Then I unload it at the house with the other Camper gear and store it inside the house.

When it comes to electronics, the more you can protect them from extreme temperatures, the better, in my book!

By-the-way, I also unload the TV to protect it from being stolen from storage (probably a bigger reason then protecting it from heat).

As Always,

Happy Scamping !!!

Winter and TV's

We have kept our TV in our Scamp now 2 winters and absolutely no problems.I just say this too, oiur company jet I flew had the avionics boxes in the nose, and it was minus 41 degrees at 41000 ft. They too were not at all affected!
