Where Are You In The Scamp "Process"? Scamp Names?

Seems quiet here so I thought I would ask a couple of questions that I have been wondering about here.  (1)  Where are you in the Scamp "process"?  Are you looking, waiting for one to be manufactured, in the process of getting one ready to go, does anyone here "renew" older units and then sale them or I am thinking that "renewing" would be more a labor of love considering the work that goes into it so not sure how "lucrative" it would be to fix and sell?  (2)  I have noticed across the internet forums that it just seems like those with molded fiberglass trailers tend to give their units names more often than those who own stick/tin.  Does your Scamp have a name and what is it or if you are like us and "looking", do you have a name in mind?  My thought is to call our unit "Bolt" since that is what our intention is. So, if you are the type to share info, would love to see some responses.

I am a minimalist and ready to take the step to another extreme by full-timing in a small trailer.   I am seeing more and more people doing this with a fair amount of people starting out snowbirding and enjoying it so much that they decide to full-time.

The very few used Scamps I

The very few used Scamps I found while looking were so close to the price of buying new that it was best for us to go with new and get everything we wanted in it. They definitely hold their value. After years of repairs to our 1972 Shasta super compact (13ft) it's nice to only have general maintenance and carefree camping trips for a change. We haven't named it, although because everything works we often say "nottheShasta" so I suppose, for now that is it's nick name!

As for full timing in it...I can see it being very possible however I hate snow and winter and prefer to hibernate indoors with the fireplace and count the days till Spring!!

Check out a local sign

Check out a local sign company as we did for our beloved Scamp. The press on letters are easy to install. Color of your choice, but red seems to be the color of choice to match the stripes.

Understand Looking For Used

Having been in this and another forum for quite some time, it is difficult to find a used unit what yet something not priced at what it was when it was new.   We aren't in the position to race across country to purchase a unit.   The cost of keeping an older one going can add up with new appliances, etc when needed.   In our case, I had considered getting a new one from the factory but for us, the price is high and the quality and customer service have come into question in my research lately.  So, that leaves us considering conventional builds again.  Whatever has an inside shower will be welcome!

Also looking for PERFECT used!

I bought and sold a used 13' a within a two month period just recently when I realized that I needed different features than the original owner ordered. Now I'm patiently (ha!) waiting for a used 13' to meet my needs (bathroom w/shower, a.c., 3-way fridge, etc). I'm close enough to the factory in Backus MN that I've asked to be put on their list for used trade-ins. So far, what they've had have been more than I can afford so will continue to haunt the used Scamp website.

As for naming the little critter, I had originally signed up as an SOI member with the name "Guitar Lady" which could have mistakenly implied that I have any talent so decided to use what my folks gave me. The Scamp, however, will be the Music Box and I'll take Flyboy's advice to get red professional lettering.

My camping is mainly on the bluegrass festival circuit with #1 Man's 5th wheel. WHEN I GET MY OWN easy-wheels, I intend to reach out farther to other state festivals. Black Hills, here I come!

searchtempest website

I'm not familiar with this website. Thanks for sending it. When I clicked on the four offerings, they all showed page as being deleted, which I assume meant the product was sold. Does that sound right?

Going With TT

After our tow vehicle shopping today and having looked for a few months, having tried to decipher all the variables with a 5th wheel, we bought an older Dodge Durango today.  We have to have a hitch installed but the dealer was able to get us a price break with the place that installs hitches since they work with them on a regular basis.  With a TT, both our current van and the SUV will be able to tow it.  I do not like vehicle or RV shopping but this was a great salesman to be working with, no pressure.

Also. online you can search using oodle.com since it appears to gather ads from several different sources but be aware that if it sounds too good to be true, it most certainly is.   Sometimes you can find them at a dealer or consignment lot.
