Hey folks,
If anyone is looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, circle August 21st on your calendar. The first total solar eclipse in the US in many many many years is a perfect candidate for a Scamp trip. The path of totality stretches from Oregon to Georgia. Hotels in that band have been sold out for a year. Scamps on the other hand, can go anywhere!
Here's a link that can start your trip planning:

Also, don't wait until August to try to find solar viewing glasses. They are cheap on Amazon but will be hard to find closer to the eclipse.
I have a site booked in Lake Murphysboro State Park in southern Illinois. If anyone from the area can suggest places to visit, I would greatly appreciate it. Specifically, I'd like to checkout local geology (and brew pubs). Has anyone been to the Garden of the Gods recreational area?
Thanks....
Hi prairie boy, thanks for posting this. It will be something very special. I hope to travel to Denver from VT and then to west Nebraska for the day and watch it with the grandkids. The best weather should be expected in the dry climate of places like Idaho, where the mountains block the clouds, but that may be too far. I hope the schools near the path of totality postpone the start of their year and allow the kids to experience this unique event.

Dang !!! I was going to test my solar panels on that day !!!!
As Always,
Happy Scamping !!!
Columbia, MO, is right on the eclipse path. Aug. 21 is also the first day of the fall term. Come to the University of Missouri as we terrify the freshmen with our ability to darken their days if they are late for class.
