Hi Gang!
I hope this message finds everyone well.
My wife Mary and I are about 12 days out from our cross-country trip in our old Scamp 13 and I still can't sort one nagging issue with my right turn signal. When I go to turn right and hit the signal in the car all the hazards go on in the Scamp.
Everything else seems fine except this one issue. Every trailer expert told me to clean and reground the right light assembly ground wire first. I did this, I also swapped out the bulbs, and cleaned the connections...no luck.
It seems that every light in the Scamp is grounded to the main white ground wire with a pink wire and the connections seem fine. But, nowhere does the white ground wire connect to the frame. Could this be the issue? The guys at Scamp Headquarters say this is or was not necessary in my old Scamp. The folks at etrailer feel I should run a ground wire from the right hand signal assembly to the frame. Might give that a try...but not so sure on that one.
At this point I'm about to loose my mind and would appreciate any added input.
As always, many thanks folks!!!!!!

I grounded the white ground wire to the Scamp frame...no change in the issue. I have a trailer guy looking at it on Sunday...as I am dealing with the basic lights wiring. Then it's off to my mechanic on Tuesday when they prep the tow vehicle for the long trip.
More to follow on all of this.
Before mid 90's Scamp used round (top hat) tail light fixtures. The ground wire connector was riveted to the round aluminum base. This connection was famous for getting flakey. I would recheck that connection. Also in the older Scamps all light grounds were tied to the white ground wire with scotch locks which is also a weak link. This connection should be below the light near the floor. If you have a water tank it may be difficult to get to the connection. Like Scamp said there was no need to ground the frame if the trailer did not have brakes in the early days.

Eddie!
Thanks so much for your reply! It's a huge help! I definitely redid the ground wire connection, but will follow your lead on the connections near the water tank and will report back.
Best, Guy
Hi Eddie:
Thank you again for your input. I was lucky and had a super trailer guy come in and with my help we re-wired all the running and brake lights. Two or three of the Scotch connectors were shot to hell as you mentioned including the one behind the right brake/turn signal. The light wiring was also incredibly old and brittle so a complete change was in order.
We are now ready to roll!!! Well, at least after our front brake pads and rotors are re-done today. It's all about the $$ as per ususal.
