There should be a little pin that goes into a small hole and works as an inside lock. You should be able to find something that will work, even a nail or piece of coat hanger should do it.
I don't want to sound rude, but why would anyone want to install the stock Scamp door lock when there is all this information to install a flat or "paddle" style door lock? The nice thing about the flat lock is you don't have to worry about the pin to lock it on the inside (try doing that when it's dark) and you can lock and unlock the door when you are on the outside of the trailer. ( Really nice when you want inside and someone has inserted the pin to lock themselves inside for protection.) Plus you can get a flat door lock with a keyed dead bolt.
The conversion isn't all that hard and you can do it with simple hand tools. Plus the lock is of higher quality and will last a long time before it needs replacement, if ever.
I have no personal knowledge but I have heard that the new door locks from Scamp do not have the hole on the inside for the locking pin. I also heard that you could drill a hole and get a pin to put in it, but that sounds a bit risky to me unless maybe you disassemble it to make sure you don't drill in the wrong place.
The Scamp I bought new on Sept 2015 does have the hole and locking pin.
Hinge kit from scamp did not come with nylon washers or lube, do I need these ? Also what kind of screws do I use for strike plate it also came without screws. More ??? to follow as I'm getting ready to replace inside and outside handles, strike plate and springs and brass ball on the hinges.
I saw a video of the owner of eveland's Inc.(scamp trailers) personal 16ft scamp, parked next to the factory. It had really nice black door hinges and black lock. The door was recessed on the exterior where the lock was, so it was not the stock door. I also saw this same setup on a deluxe 16 ft scamp for sale. Is this an option when ordering? anyone have more info on this? thanks.

I believe that is now standard (starting with 2017 models).
Where did you find the video of Eveland's 16 ft. trailer with the different door lock? I and I bet a whole bunch of Scamp owners would like to see that video. It would be really nice to see Scamp have a better door lock and maybe better door hinges on their trailers. And it really wouldn't add that much to the cost of the trailer.
sorry- these photos are all I can do with my limited tablet ability and skill. the u tube was called " My scamp trailer adventures" by john holderfield . I hope the new type are on the 2018 16 ft scamp that I ordered 2 mo. ago. (total 10 mo wait). but they were not on the scamps in their lot sept 25 2017.
No hole in the lock?

I did drill the hole for the pin on my new handle. So far it is working fine.
