After a couple of days in Moab visiting Arches National Park I no longer regret getting the AC unit for my 13 scamp. I had regretted it for a while but the unit proved its worth in the 106 temps. From about 10 am until 11 pm the temp hovered between 99 and 106 and the coolest it got was 80 degrees around 3 am. The only draw back is the noise. I found it hard to sleep with the noise but appreciated the ability to escape the relentless heat.

I am a believer in the AC
I'm jealous that is a great place to hang out even when it's hot. Go for a nice raft trip and cool right down.
Enjoy!

Yes these darn RV AC units are louder than they should be.. but for me that is sometimes a plus..with the AC running (even just fan) my dog cannot so hear every little thing outside, so she barks much less.
(Not that she barks a lot to start with, I promise it will be OK when you are my campground neighbor).
But another advantage, rarely mentioned, has nothing to do with human comfort (directly at least).
If you have a leak, or get rain in the open windows or the door, the AC can dry out the interior of the trailer to some extent. I have used the RV-AV to dehumidify and dry out just as much as staying cool. It helps to prevent mold and wood damage. When the outside humidity is really high, I have even been known to run a heater and the AC on at the same time (certainly not my best day as a conservationist).
we would have never considered our purchase of our Scamp if it did not have a AC unit. The "white noise" it creates does help me sleep. Midwest summers are awful for heat and humidity. Feels just great inside.

I have a mini split AC unit in my home, and it makes practically no noise at all. Here is a link to a video of a fellow who mounted one on a Bolar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHDT5ZEpKkw I think if the AC manufacturers would consider the number of RV's there are in the world and focus on smaller disigned mini-split systems to accomidate us. They could make a billon because I would throw out that loud unit in a heart beat for one.
Our AC unit does not make that much noise and we just love it. Our unit is also lower profile than the new ones we saw at Lanesboro MN gathering.

Hi there. Just trying to understand...are you saying Scamp now installs an a/c that takes up more head-space than the older models? I am curious, as we are both 5'10" and have a 13' Scamper on order. Thanks.
I think he meant lower on the roof, so the overall trailer height is a little less.
BTW and FYI.. you replied to a post more than six years old.
Okay. Thank you for clarification.
I saw the post had aged a bit, but when you search out an a/c Q.&A. and come across one...you have to go for it! :)
Thank you for answering!
