Do I need AC?

Howdy all!  I have a Scamp 13 on order that should be ready next Spring.  I can't wait!  I didn't order an air conditioner and I'm now questioning that decision since I do plan to go wandering in the desert to some extent. My plan is to use the fan on exhaust with windows open if it gets too toasty.  I'll have the bathroom in the front, so the area to be cooled is only about 6' x 8'.  I'd love to hear from others who are AC free about your experiences.  (I can change my order to add the AC if I wish.)  Thanks!

A/C No Thank You !

We have a new 13' Scamp 2017 no bath and no A/C we just try to follow the weather patterns to stay warm or cold. We did get the A/C prep done at no extra cost.

Have Scamp will travel !

AC

If it's not a hardship I always recommend getting it. You can restrict where you go and what time of year you attempt to go there, but why put a limitation on what you are able to do. Personally, nothing much is worse than trying to sleep when it's too hot.

Example: It is almost impossible to get an rv space in S Florida in the snowbird season, much easier in the shoulder seasons, early fall - late spring. No AC you won't want to be going there when you would be able to. We're in AZ, and Nov thru March is good most days with no AC, the rest of the time you will most likely need AC for at least part of the day. Even up North now, summers are pretty hot with temps in the high 90's to 105 some days.

A/C?

If you are in the south and don't order a furnace or in the north and don't order an A/C you will see the impact when you try to sell your trailer. You will also limit where you will want to take your trailer while you own it. With these two options the initial cost will be recouped when you sell. If you really don't want to tow around an A/C or can't fit your trailer in your storage area at least order the A/C prep. package. It reinforces the roof and runs power for an easy A/C install later and helps with resale.

Thanks!

Thanks for the input, everyone.  I think Elongest's point about resale is a good one, as well as Greg A's. I'm not a fan of A.C., but I also wouldn't enjoy trying to sleep in an 80 degree camper. And since I'd still have the fan, I'll always have that option. So I'll get the A.C., and I'll see you in camp!
