The black trim piece that goes around the dinette table in our Scamp is detaching / coming loose. What type of adhesive or product should i use to get it stay in place?

Dinette Table trim detaching
We have the same problem with the rear table and side dinette table in our 2012 Scamp. I plan to rough the wood with a motor tool. Then, I plan to staple one end of the molding and add contact cement to one side of the table. I will press the molding in place and clamp the molding with a long clamp and let it dry. I will repeat the procedure for each side. I think any good contact cement will work. I went to Ace Hardware/ Lumber One. They had about 12 different types or grades in caulking tubes. Naturally, I bought the $2 one instead of the $12 one. It says that it will glue wood, molding, plastic, etc. Years ago, I bought a can of contact cement at Home Depot that I applied to something with a knife. It worked well.
I glued the trim on the small table section under the big bed. I found the can of contact cement that I bought a couple years ago from Home Depot and used it. The contact cement is Weldwood. I used this stuff 50 years ago to make a chess board with walnut and birch wood strips and it is still good today. The stuff is thick like molasses and can be applied with a knife. Drips can be easily cleaned up. I used long, wood working clamps and glued each side separately and let dry (30 minutes each side). The corners of the molding do not fit and glue well. I doubt that my glue job would hold up to frequently switching between bed and table. However, we always leave the bed down and the glue will hold for many years like that. If we converted to a table frequently, I might just paint the table edges and ditch the molding.
