Depends on your personal camping style. If you only require 1 gallon then it could make sense. I changed all of my hand pump 13's over to a water pump system with normal faucets, never liked the hand pumps.
One note, if you are going to camp in federal parks they require sealed tank for the gray so the system pictured by ac0gv is how you need to setup your external dump tank.
I do not and should not travel with water in the tank. It adds weight to the rear of the trailer. I empty the tank and fill it at the camp site typically.
We can make 10 gallons last 2 days maybe three with GI Showers, but we often camp more than 2 or 3 days, I would like to have 20 gallons or more.
I believe I would remove the fiberglass seat where the current tank is and replace it with a larger tank. Has any one done that?
If I recall I put a bit larger tank on my first Scamp 13 in that location but that has been awhile. As long as you can find a tank whose dimensions would fit in that space it should work fine and I've seen a number of larger tanks added when replaced, especially in the fifth wheel. Only thing required if the dimensions fit is to fashion new hold down straps which would not be much of a challenge.
If you do this, let us know what tank you went with that will fit in that area. Of course, if one has onboard water system, the water pump is normally seated between the water tank and the rear wall so one would have to take that in account if fitting a larger tank with the onboard water.
