Sometimes circumstances conspire to create situations like those this woman found herself in (including the untimely death of a loved one). When these situations arise you make the best decisions you can make based on your personal situation. This lady had no reason to mistrust her Niece, and in fact, the Scamp was safe for many months. Unfortunately, the Niece appears to have her own set of demons to deal with and the Aunt lost her Scamp because of this.

The lesson in this unfortunate event is to have your Scamp "Adequately" insured.
Sure this Lady's Scamp is GONE, but she could have replaced it with money received from an insurance claim.
Remember too, that an Insurance Company is not going to think that your Scamp is worth as much as it actually is. The insurance Company will base their calculations on a typical depreciating asset like other Campers and not on the Scamp's uniqueness to hold it's value.
Your Insurance claim should be enough to REPLACE your Scamp based on the "Fair Market Value" of a similar Scamp (year, make, layout and model). You can use SOI's Sister site http://fiberglass-rv-4sale.com to help establish the actual "Fair Market Value" for your lost or destroyed Scamp (or other fiberglass RV).
