~~ScampCamps
Gatherings of Scamps, and other small fiberglass RVs that join in, at various locations across the country are organized and hosted by SOI Members and others who wish to share the attractions of their area. These meetings have become a tradition of the group since the first gather over fourteen years ago. All ScampCamp are independent of Scamp Owners International, with all arrangements made by the individual(s) hosting the event. SOI does not sanction or financially support any gathering or other activities conducted by the Scamp owner host. SOI’s involvement is simply one of announcing these events and offering suggestions to anyone interested in planning and hosting such a gathering. These suggestions may be requested and will be sent as an attachment to an E-mail entitled Hosting a ScampCamp Guidelines.
I just sent an email to someone affiliated with the Scrambled Egg gatherings mentioning this very topic. Name escapes me at the moment. The info ELongest posted above is evidently the policy in place before I came onboard SOI, but some of it is still relevant.
In our Spring Edition of the SOI News we posted:
Speaking of Scamp Camps, we now have 3 official Scamp Camps on the calendar:
1. Scamp Camp Far West– May 15-19 2014 – Pine Grove, CA - 2 spots left
2. Scamp Camp SW – Christmas in Sedona, AZ – Dec 12-14, 2014
3. Scamp Camp Florida 2015 – Feb 9-14, 2015 – Sebring, FL
We are working on getting a Scamp Camp in the Fall. If you host an event or would like to and want to make it an official Scamp Camp, let us know!
Email or pm us and let's discuss getting the Scrambled Egg gatherings in as official Scamp Camps, we'd love to add your gatherings as Scamp Camps.
I am confused (as usual). I understand and totally agree with the requirement for SOI not being responsible for Scamp Camps (per the above mentioned "Guidelines"). However, when the word "Official" is added to the description of a Scamp Camp, what changes? Are only Scamps allowed or does the Scamp Camp get some sort of advertising or financial or insurance asistance?
Understand....I am not flopping a red flag on this because, as you know, Bevie and I are serious Scamp-Abouters not Scamp Campers.....I am just curious is all.
Yahoo!!! The "Lil Critter" gets to roll again in a couple of days. Bevie has her yellow high lighter out and is ready to mark some more maps. I hope to go over the 210,000 mile mark on the Lil Critter's odometer this time. I wonder which way the car hood will be pointed this time? LOL
To be an Official Scamp Camp we have some very minimal requirements to make sure the experience from start to finish is easy and fun for SOI members to participate. As we state on each Scamp Camp event all brands of trailers are welcome and we do not restrict it to just Scamps. We ask that the Scamp Camp hosts maintain a certain level of communication on the event posting throughout the registration process so that members know when it is almost full or full and also are updated on any changes that might occur. We also ask that the event posting have a summary posted on how the event went before we archive the event to "past gatherings." We also maintain a communication with our Scamp Camp hosts throughout the year to help with any issues or just see how it's going. In exchange, an Official Scamp Camp is given additional postings throughout the year in the SOI forums so that folks are reminded to make their plans and attend. SOI also provides help with anything that might be needed if the hosts ask, and we send a "goodie bag" to the Scamp Camp hosts prior to the event of SOI club merchandise to use as giveaways, prizes, etc. I.E. At Scamp Camp SW in Dec we had a Christmas present for each trailer attending as well as custom Scamp Camp SW souvenier name badge buttons for each attendee.
This year we have 3 Scamp Camps so far on the calendar. Scamp Camp SE just finished in Sebring, FL and was full quite a bit prior to the event. Scamp Camp Far West in May, which is now full and taking waiting list. Scamp Camp SW in Dec in Sedona which is still waiting on dates for the 2015 event to be posted. We are currently looking for more hosts that want to run a Scamp Camp and can help them get it off the ground.
Great to hear lil Critter and the Deaton's are getting on the move again! We look forward to seeing you and Bev again soon.
Marcy We are a group of campers which started out as scamps but have many others now. Just friends that have got togeather since the late 90s We have about 3 meets a year our first this year will be at Milaces Lake in May see posting the second the end of May Lanesboro and in Wi in Sept Some meets draw 60+ units We have great Gatherings most evenings with many talented folks Pop corn and Cowboy coffee every morning Card bingo, pot lucks drawings ect We do have a chat forum that I will invit you to [need an e mail] Send to Lyndon lthree@lakedalelink.net These gatherings are a big part of our lives and of coarse we owe it to S.O.I. for the start!! We have great friendt all over the US and Canada.
Seems to me, if our country were bigger, the "official" Scamp gatherings would be even further away! Being squarely in the middle of the county, all official Scamp Camps are way too far to attend. Seems organizers have forgotten about those living in the middle of the country!
Scamp Camps are put on by SOI members that step forward and put one on. We help them out in any way we can, but they are done solely by members wishing to have a Scamp Camp in their area. This is your chance to host your very own Scamp Camp squarely in the middle of the country and then there will be one close by you. Let me know when you want to host it and where....
Anyone else? We need lots more as there is high interest in attending Scamp Camps and they are usually full, full, full.
Once my bride retires, we shall plan a great Midwest Scamp gathering. We have a lakeside RV park on a lake, casinos, cobble stone streets for shopping and great restaurants. We have great ideas for the Scamp gathering, games, trailer tours, and maybe even a tech session for installations. We have great ideas.
As the host of Scamp Camp Far West, I can tell you Scamp Camps are not hard to put together. It can be as simple as just selecting a site and date, then posting the information on the forum. Some camps do not have formal schedules - just a time for visiting and sightseeing, and perhaps a potluck. In fact, some people have expressed that they prefer that type of gathering instead of a complete schedule of events. Reservations? Each participant can make their own reservations with the park, then tell the organizer when and where they will be. Keeping in contact with participants is done through e-mails. Come on, Doug. You can do it! Start simple. They will come! Thank you for volunteering! - - Earl

LLaney,
I'm new to this group and a new Scamp owner. I've never heard of the scrambled egg group. Is there a website to see what's up.
