Greg what type of wood are

Greg what type of wood are your cabinets in this Scamp? I know the 81 you had redone them in Cherry.  I think I like the lighter wood.

Cabinets

This trailer is an Escape 17B not a Scamp, and the cabinets are a light oak I believe.

To remove or not to remove benches?

Hi Folks, new to the forums here, just got myself a 1985 13' Scamp, very excited to start the renovation!  One of the first things I'm going to do is the floors, and I'm wondering if I should remove all the benches (forward and aft) and do the floors, or just do the exposed floor area.  What's the reasoning behind removing the benches and putting wood flooring where you won't even see it?

Thanks!

Jon

Leave the benches In

I have been on the scamp and mostly casita forums for the last 10 years and every single person that did the flooring left the benches in and only installed it where the open area is with maybe some 1/4 round moulding for a finished look.

Have fun with the Scam[.... these little trailers are great

Now Joe

You live near me and have seen all my Allure flooring projects. You know I always remove the benches and completely floor the Scamps. It is a much cleaner look and you have consistent new flooring in all of your storage areas. You also don't need to fool with hardly any quarter round or trim if you do a complete flooring job. I think it also reflects positively when it is time to resell the Scamp. I do not remove the closet or major kitchen cabinets, just the benches fore and aft.

Usually, when I do the complete flooring redo's I discover a number of small issues that needed to be corrected and are not visible till you clear the decks.

I stand corrected

I knew you had the benches out for repairs but didn't realize you put the flooring under the benches.... I definitely stand corrected. All the casita jobs i saw where fitted around the benches.

I've been over your place many times and should have looked closer.

Hope your enjoying your new Escape

Glue

Greg's suggestion of Liquid nail sounds good. I think I may have used a hot glue gun to seal mine back together

Nice outcome

Doug,

Nice job on the flooring. This cleans up much easier than carpeting.
