Wax Ring in the shower pan?

I have a 1989 Scamp 19 with a side toilet. Recently water started to leak out of the black water drain pipe cutout under the trailer whenever shower water sprays behind and around the black water tank on top of the shower pan. The leak is fast and immediate. The water doesn’t have to build up in the shower pan for the water to start leaking. I read posts about how this might be caused by a disintegrated wax ring that sits on the shower pan floor under the black water tank. I’ve never removed the black water tank. I’m thinking I can leave the toilet attached, take out the four screws at the base of the black water tank. (These are rusty- don’t know how I’ll get them out yet) Then cut off the black drain pipe outside so I can unscrew the black water drain to lift the tank/toilet up to get at the wax ring on the shower pan floor? I saw a picture of a shower pan with the tank removed and it looks like maybe a half inch raised flange where the toilet drain pipe attaches underneath. I can’t understand how a little water splashed behind the black water tank can find its way over this lip even without a wax ring, so I’m thinking the shower pan under the black water tank could possibly be cracked to let the water leak so easily. Any advise or ideas from someone who has experience with the shower pan / tank would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike

Bath leak

First make sure your plastic shower fixture is not cracked on the supply side of the shower wall. Water leaks from the fixture will sometimes exit the drain hole. If good  then pour water from a container behind the toilet to make sure it is a leak from under the toilet. If you pull the toilet don't forget the vent and it is a good time to add a water shut off valve to the toilet plumbing. On the toilet screws, if they extend below the floor you might be able to use vice grips in the screws to get them started out. Also ABS drain fittings can be hard to locate. I usually just call and order the parts from Scamp. It's been a while since working a shower issue but also check the wall to pan seal.
