Drove from NY to Iowa and back in less than 48 hrs to pick up my used 16ft 1996 scampin April. Scamp was gutted out by previous owner but he left the upper oak cabinets in and had a build the framing for a full size bed in back. Played around over the summer, did enough to have a bed in back and small dinette up front where table could be set to make a small bed. Good enough so that in August my 17yr old son and I could make a 1700 mi trip from NY to Acadia NP, then Boston and off to Philly before heading home. Basically had a glorified tent on wheels. Storage was just rubber maid containers and coolers. Continued work through the fall and this unusually warm winter so far and am nearing the completion of the restoration. Finally made good use of the old kitchen cabinet doors that were out in my garage the past 10 years. Excited about trips to the Adirondacks this spring and summer.

Very nice job! You must be very talented for such projects.

Not sure if I'm all that talented, but always willings to try and figure things out (As I mentioned lots of support from this site and FGRV). Also needed, a willingness to overlook my mistakes (Most people do not notice them unless I point them out). Still have to figure out adjusting to downsizing to traveling in a smaller rv, but looking forward to it. Thanks again

Great work Dan!
What is the countertop material?? Are the base cabinet doors a Cherry? Dorm fridge? Any wet areas, sink, etc?

Greg,
Countertops are my first attempt at Formica over particle board. A few minor hick-ups but nothing I can not live with. The cabinet doors are a birch vernier from my old kitchen (they been sitting in garage for over 10 years). Ripped and routered them down then stained with a very dark stain to give contrast against the oak. 3-way dometic fridge picked up from a technology teacher selling it on craigslist. He obtained it in a trade, was never used so at $250 got a good deal. Put in sink with city water hook up and installed a 15 gallon freshwater tank and pump (have not tried this out yet). No water heater and did not want to put in stove. Created cabinet over wine rack for a microwave. Hardly ever use my burners or stove in my 26ft TT so I doubt i will use one in the scamp. Most cooking is done outdoors. Have coleman double propane burner stove and will look to by an electric hot plate for inside. Still have lots to consider as far as making this my TT. Larger TT placed at an rv park.
