Hi...I'm a new member after putting a deposit on a 16ft standard layout 6. Seems that mine is supposed to be ready by ~April 2022. That gives me plenty of time to get my head straight on some of the options that I may or may not want. That's why I came here...to get some feedback on some of my iffy choices. A couple of items of note is the outdoor shower, the TV package, and the level sensors.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the See Level II Tank Sensor. It's a $400 option and I've decided to go with an extra fresh water tank. I was wondering if the extra tank will be connected to the other tank monitor level on both. I see some people have issues with these stick on level sensors on the black water tank. But everything I've read up to this point was referring to upgrades done on USED black water tanks. Seems the sludge can interfere with the sensor.
I'm told this is a fairly new option by Shawn at Scamp. So does anyone in here have any experience with these sensors in their new Scamp?
First, I hope that April 2022 is a typo.
Next, unless you are just trying to buy everything it has, I would never pay 400$ for a tank monitor on a Scamp. The fresh water tanks are under a cover inside, the blackwater tank is in plain sight in the bath. Second even with two 12-gallon freshwater tanks you will seldom fill the 21-gallon gray tank. The TV package is overpriced. Get the antenna and buy a 100$ TV/DVD player on Amazon.
Thanks for that input. How do you feel about the outdoor shower. And to be clear, it is not my intent to just get everything I can. But I don't want to get stuck WISHING that I got something that is too hard to install after the whole thing is put together.
We have traveled for 18 years in SOB, 15 of those with 2 dogs. We have used the outdoor shower once. Dirty paws were usually wiped off before entering the coach. We travel mostly in the the lower West where rain is rare, thus not much mud.
My reaction is that you wouldn't necessarily need an outdoor shower if you already have an indoor shower. Our Scamp camping experience includes living "out of it" for 6 months at a time as a volunteer in Yellowstone. We've had the 16' side dinette floor plan 6 for several years as well as our current Deluxe 19' which is virtually the same bathroom setup as our previous 16'
If you had the outdoor shower would you plan to use it on people or pets? If for people, I'm wondering why you wouldn't simply shower indoors. It’s more private and the waste water goes into your tank which is recommended if you are actually bathing with soap. If you intend to use the outdoor shower for rinsing pets I would say that the outdoor shower would only be useful if you’re for boondocking. If you're not boondocking and have a hookup, you would already have a water connection where you could use a hose to rinse off a pet.
I would also echo that you don't need the fancy tank sensor. You can see inside the black tank when you flush. If you're boondocking you can go through two fills of freshwater tank before needing to dump your grey tank. It's easy to keep track of.

No...the pickup date is not a typo....April 2022. Supposedly, I'll be getting a 2022 and my prices will stay locked in.
I'll be traveling alone. The reason I thought the shower might come in handy was for boondocking to rinse feet, rinse this or that, wash face armpits whatever without mucking up my tanks. Never really thought of it's use for pets. So, that's one of those that I do believe I could take it or leave it. And like you say, when staying at a place with hookups it would be a waste. So the outdoor shower seems like an option with limited use. That's the kind of stuff I am reaching out about because I'm new to the camping scene. So it's helpful to get different points of view, I think to avoid as many gotchas as possible. I do see your point that it would likely be money better spent somewhere else.
I hear ya on the tank monitors. I thought of getting those only because it would be difficult to install after the trailer was built around the tanks.
We are considering outside shower as well. No shower inside for we needed the bunks. I just know in national parks or when boondocking, no showers are around. Trying to figure out how to catch the water ( collapsible something with a drain? for gray water tank) to be mindful if environment. Otherwise, well use provided restroom when available. Let me know if you discover anything else I should consider!

I've been bopping around watching different trailer videos and it would seem the outside shower gets high marks. Rinsing feet or muddy shoes, cleaning pets, rinsing dishes, or any other thing that could keep one from slopping up the inside of your trailer. In just about every case, owners are happy they have it. I have since decided on a different camper and practically every optional item on the Scamp is included on the one I just ordered. I will say that the cost of the options on the Scamp are pretty high compared to what you can do yourself. And when you look at the more mainstream campers, practically everything Scamp offers as an option is standard. Plus my wait time was way too far out so I decided to back out of the Scamp deal.
Good luck! We prefer small and how these hold up their value. Other words, it's an investment and I like things simple. We looked RPods and liked these...so you may want to check those out. Good luck. This forum offers all ideas, not just Scamp.
I am new to the forum but enjoy what I see. Good luck again!
I already put money on an E-Pro 15TB. It's small and light with alot of standard features that when I add them all up would cost me almost 30k with the Scamp. But again, the Scamp has alot going for it but I didn't want to wait for over a year and feel much better about buying local here in PA. Good luck to you too!
the TV package i would think nowadays just use your phone for netflix/hulu/espn+ or use your phone as a hotspot and bring an ipad to do the same. cheaper and you probably already own that stuff. i don't do a TV when i'm camping, we are trying to be outside and spend time in nature away from the electronics.
Tank sensors, i don't know how much they cost, if you feel you need them, then get them. the most important thing is you have to feel comfortable and know what you got is what you want. so you overspent? who cares, it's your money to do with it what YOU want to. i bought Used so i'm stuck with what i got and can just modify. buying new i'd get all the bells and whistles if i had the cash.
2022 sounds right, due to COVID camper sales were through the roof. 2022 will also be a great year to buy campers used, because the pandemic should be over by then and all those that bought them might not want to use them if life is back to normal.
