Hello from MD

Hello all. Relatively new to Scamps in general, but a long time fan. I'm finally at a point where I'd like to get serious and get out of my basement. As long as I have WiFi I can work from anywhere and that's my plan. I'm interested in the Scamp 16 Deluxe models A or C with all the goodies. I'm just not a fan of having a stove next to the bed. I'll be pulling with a 2022 Chevy Colorado 6cyl, with a tow weight of 7,000lbs and a tongue weight of 700lbs. I'd love to hear comments about my choices and tow vehicle.

Thanks - Patrick

Right track MD

You are on the right track.  Your vehicle will tow a Deluxe 16-ft Scamp fine.  My vehicle has a tow capacity of about 6500 and tows a Deluxe 16 very well.  You might consider getting a weight distribution/sway hitch.  Some people say you don't need it.  I like it because we do long distance trips often on Interstates with prairie winds and truck traffic.  My friend doesn't have much experience towing so the hitch is peace of mind for us.  You will need a 7-pin electrical connector and a brake controller.  I don't like the stove being near the bed either, but you can put up a little partition to keep things from splattering or spilling.  But, we don't cook much with the stove because you can create odors that are tough to get rid of.  We use the microwave when we have shore power.  You also can cook outside with a camping stove or an electric frying pan.  If you are buying a used trailer, don't lock yourself into specific options.  Go with the trailer that is a great price, is in good condition, has enough features, and is reasonably close to you.  The goal is to get Scamping and not wait a long time.  Good shopping and camping
