Home made or Alternative Curtains

I can not and will now sew.

Where can I buy a new set of curtains for 13 Ft with Bathroom Scamp.    Would like to be able to choose through different fabrics and patterns.   I do not like the original curtains.

I do not know anyone who will sew me some.  I can not sew.

Any ideas.

curtains

Once the lockdown is lifted (or maybe fabric stores in your state are still open) take your factory Scamp curtains to a JoAnn fabric or similar store.  Ask if anyone does piecework as a sideline--there should be several sewing mavens working there or they would know someone who does.  They will help you buy the correct yardage once you pick out a fabric.  And if you can't find anything in the store you like, JoAnn has thousands of fabrics available online, wheeee!  The curtains are easy to make, and they would have the old curtains as a pattern.

New Curtains

On all our Scamps we've made new curtains very simply and no sewing. Pick out a set of nice black out panels from somewhere like Bed Bath and buy yourself a glue gun and refills at the Depot.

The panels already come with rod pockets on top and bottom so we usually cut each panel in half. Then use the glue gun to make any seams that are needed and voila, perfect curtains in whatever size you want to make them.

Never had any of the glued seams release over the years, actually better than sewing.

Pics Please

I would like to see some pictures of what you did Greg A. Please post if you can as I have been thinking about updating the curtains in my Scamp 16.

New Curtains...

Last year I wanted new curtains in my Scamp 13. Went to JoAnn and found the perfect pattern (a dark green background with "park" emblems on it; some fish, some deer etc.). It was SO perfect that I couldn't decide if I wanted the print facing out so everyone else could see it or facing in so I could see it! Clearly the only solution was to buy twice as much as I needed and double side the curtains. Now everyone can see it! The problem was it was on clearance and my local store only had about half of what I needed. JoAnn was very helpful...they got online and checked with their other stores and found 2 pieces about 250 miles away. They got the dimensions for me, I did some quick math and figured it would work. They shipped them to my store (took about 7 days) and I picked it up after verifying the size of the 2 pieces.

Now, I had a friend of mine who volunteered to sew them up; real basic. Faces together (so it was inside out), up the two sides and across the bottom. It looked like a pillow case or something. Pulled it right side out and sewed across the top making a loop to slide the rod through. She put several lead curtain weights in the bottom so it would hang straight down and they turned out most excellent.

I have been single off and on about half of my adult life and a single parent for 15 years. Before I met Shelly, I have used people who advertise "alterations" on little signs in front of their homes and shops around here (a fairly metropolitan area) and have always had good luck with quality and cost. It's likely there would be someone nearby you doing the same thing. Good suggestion above to check with your nearest JoAnn Fabric store and they could probably point you in the right direction. Good luck...

Please excuse me...I need to go camping now

Rat Fur

How did you attach the curtain rod to the rat fur?

Easy

I ordered large blackout curtains from Walmart online then cut them to fit the windows. I used a serger for the edges and then a fancy top stitch for decoration across the top. We had the original curtains and they were sunfaded out. As you can see I recovered the cushions as well.

If you want curtains specific for your trailer and know what fabric you want to use I'd be happy to sew them up for you. I did every window and hatch covers in an afternoon.
