Has anyone removed the closet in older Scamp? Mine is a 76 home built and I would like to remove the closet to re-insulate, clean and paint. I already have all the other fiberglass pieces out, but since this one borders the door, I was wondering if it served some sort of support function. I just don't want the door to sag or crack when I remove it. All the pieces will be going back in, this would be a temporary removal. Any help is appreciated!

Closet serve support function?
I have never done something like it, but I would agree with your guess that the closet next to the door is an important part of the structure. I would support the roof in that area before removing it, redo the insulation and the inside and replace the closet, trying to keep the dimensions the same. Then do the rest of it, in a second step.

Also in favor of a support in place of the closet while doing the work. the closet and the steel support between the lower and upper cabinet on the opposite side are part of the structure for the roof.

This brings up thoughts that I've had about opening up both the closet between the benches and door, and next to the bath on the other side of the door. I'd like to make the doors taller and perhaps a little wider in the one next to the bath. I find I can't utilize the space very well and would like add at least one more shelf. I was thinking I'd run some aluminum angle iron or square stock vertically on both sides of the doors. Has anyone done something like that? Would the aluminum reinforcement take the required load?
Longer term project. Any advice / input would be most welcome.

Thanks for your thoughts! What would you use for a temporary support? 2x4? Inside? Roof to floor? Or outside? Like belly band to ground?
Thanks!
I might try a 2x4 between the floor and ceiling with a cross piece resembling a "T" If possible
