AM/FM STEREO IN 13FT. SCAMP DELUXE

Hello all, we are new here.

We are planning on purchasing a 13ft. scamp deluxe model in the next year or so.

I am having trouble finding any info. on a am/fm stereo being installed. (would like to find out sooner than later)

Obviously scamp does not offer it, but i still have a few questions if anyone has had it installed later or done it themselves.
I am a machinist but kind of limited on the electrical know how.

1. Do i need to have scamp run any extra wires and or dedicate a separate fuse to it ahead of time? (can ask scamp i guess)

2. Are there any suggestions as to a good spot for the reciever and speakers? (we are getting the antenna and tv package)

3. How would the rooftop antenna come into play with the stereo and then again, connect etc. ?

I realize there are car/boat stereo installer shops all over and we could go that route if needed but i still would like to hear any feedback on this topic if possible.
thanks in advance.

am/fm/cd/et al

We have a 16' Scamp and we use the rear dinette a lot for games, computing, as well as dining.  We added an audio "system" as well as a handy storage shelf.  The shelf is trimmed out lightweight plywood and is fastened to the two overhead storage bins from Scamp.  It's important to note that these bins aren't secured all that well and so the shelf adds extra weight by itself even without putting items on it.  I also added a metal c-channel to the reat of the shelf (the edge can be seen in the second photo below).  I then added another piece of square tubing to the lower window edge (used the same screws) and added a vertical brace to help support the shelf.  Now we can get to the audio system.  I got a fiberglass (or plastic) "box" meant for a golf cart or tractor that allows the radio to be mounted and the speakers to be mounted in the same box.  Not for everyone, but it works well for us.  I also added an LED light on the bottom to help light the table.  You will need 12V power to where ever you put your radio and you will need speaker wire going to each speaker if you mount them some distance from the radio (I didn't so no problem).  Since I do wood, I routed a space on the rear of the shelf to run the 12V wire and covered it with the c-channel.  Turned out pretty darn well.

That looks great.

Where did you tap into the 12v? and are you using your roof mounted antenna also? if so, where did you tap into that?

no separate fuse connection i`m guessing?

Addendum to last...

As for the antenna, I got a long stick on type and put it around the fixed part of the rear window.  Seems to work really well and it's very much out of the way.  Sorry no pic of that.  All radio items came from the dreaded (or not so much) Amazon!

12V Power for Radio

Sorry I didn't get to that, but it'll probably be different for every installation.  In this case I started to tap into the circuit that powered the lights and the TV antenna on the street side up in a cabinet over the stove, which would have worked I expect.  But besides being a wood guy I'm also an electrical guy, so I ran a new feed from under the base cabinet below the cabinet I still wanted to use and then jumped beneath the liner into the rear overhead cabinet and then out onto the rear of the shelf.  By doing that I have the radio equipment on a separate 12V fuse.  Not too hard in theory, but that liner, as someone recently pointed out, must be made of Kevlar or something; it's one tough fabric!  Of course it also meant removing the electrical distribution box while connecting the new circuit.  If you have some hesitancy in working with the 12V, you might find a friend to help.  I would say moderately difficult for a good multi-purpose handy person.

AM/FM boat radio

I ran extra power in for ham radio equipment and tapped into that. I mounted the AM/FM antenna to the back of the awning. The Smallest radio that I found was a boat radio. It had an extra input, so I used that for the TV that is to mall to hear over the sound of the air conditioner.
