17' casita spirit vs 16' scamp

I am considering moving up to larger egg. Looking for feedback on casita vs scamp. I now own a 13' scamp with shower and toilet. Thought?

17ft Casita vs 16ft Scamp

I cant speak about a 17ft Casita but we had a 2015ft Scamp with bath last year.Needed more room and ordered a 2015 Casita.Mainly because I wanted the bath window. They are both nice trailers but we do like the fact that the Casitas come with 15in wheels and tires compared to the 13's which was on our Scamp.Casita's have an inside AC on the 16s where Scamp goes on the top, another big deal to us. There were things we liked better about our Scamp like the screen door where the Casita 16 doesnt have one.We are working on that:-).Like the fact that the battery is in a compartment instead of out on the front on the Scamp. They are both good little trailers, just have some differant features.Good luck on what ever you decide. That extra 3 ft makes a world of differance

Escape

Love all molded fiberglass trailers can't go wrong with any of them, but if you want to go up to a new 17 (not sure if that's what you are thinking) and you do it right with the current exchange rate US to CA you can get a new 17 Escape for same or less $$ than a Scamp 16 or Casita 17. You might want to throw that in the bucket as it has the most room of the three. The only downside is the wait for build out is about a year currently on the new Escapes.

Resale on used trailers, it would be no problem to score a used Casita. We have the most Casita used inventory in history at the moment: http://www.fiberglass-rv-4sale.com/casita-trailers-for-sale

Used 16 Scamps would be the next easiest and used Escapes are really difficult to get on resale, but there have been a number of them lately with people upgrading due to the exchange rate.

Don't forget the weight

Don't forget the weight difference, as the Casita is quite heavy as compared to the Scamp. This may require a different and more capable tow vehicle to tow the Casita over the Scamp.

Scamp is at a lot lower cost

Scamp is at a lot lower cost then an Escape. With the same options. I looked, wrangled, turn upside down,  when comparing prices when I bought the 16` Scamp. Casita was way far away and their 16` ceiling was to low and the 17` was to much tongue heavy for my tow + more dollars . The Scamp is a good buy, it may not have all the bells and whistles, but it will get you there.  Carl

They are all nice trailers

And when you consider the differant things that come as standard on some and not on others, its that big of price differance. You might spend a little more on the Escapes then the other two but they give you a lot on them,we saw Gregs and its very nice! and has things that come on it,that the Casita doesnt have, and our Casita has things that the Scamps dont come standard with, its all up to what people want. They all have their differances. We would have opted for the Escape like Greg said with the exchange rate.We just didnt want that year long wait this time around since our Scamp had sold and we had nothing ha

Know what you need

Launey & Earlene really wanted an A/C unit that wasn't a roof mount and Casita is only one still offering a low mount A/C. Determining needs/wants and matching it to who can build it the way you want it is the best approach. I like any of them as long as they're molded fiberglass. smiley

I agree with what's already

I agree with what's already been posted.  So much will come down to your tow vehicle and it's capacity.  The Casita 17 is their most popular build and there always seems to be good supply of late model units with almost zero wear and tear on them.  Casita's build time wait is a bit less than either Scamp or Escape. Casita 17 is heavy on the tongue, but if your TV can handle the weight the added ceiling height, flat floor and other nice touches make it Casita's most popular build by far.  The Casita 16 is very Scamp like but the low ceiling height is akin to a pre-fire Scamp 13' at only 5'10" and that turns off a bunch of folks.  Since you've owned a Scamp it is logical to assume you're familiar with them and what the extra 3' of a 16'er would give you.  No simple, easy answer.  Since re-sale value is so solid, no purchase locks you into a forever deal or sell at a huge loss scenario in any case.  That fact alone should actually help take the pressure off any choice you make.  Just go have fun.
